AWCampus recommends:

Grief is an ever- present process in our lives. Here is a book we recommend, that can be an added support for the many of us going through grief. It has been added to our library!

We are posting a little excerpt from the book, as it may help you imagine what you will encounter while reading it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️Remember to listen to how you feel while you read any book. You are an active reader with a rich internal world. You can stop, re-read, revisit, pass any pages that you want…even bring the book to therapy! It’s your reading process and you can take care of yourself while doing so.

[ID: photo of the hardcover book on top of a wood table: it reads ”Moving on doesn’t mean letting go”. The second page has a quote from the book “ While nobody can substitute for one on one therapy with specialized support, I hope that these pages can become a safe space for you - just you and me in this vault with no judgment, no secrets, and no societal or ancestral rules, a space to come closer to our truer selves and gather tools for healing wounds, old and new, one step at a time. Gina Moffa, “Moving on does it mean letting go: a modern guide for navigating loss.”]

We always have been proud to offer spaces to our clients that hold space for all the hard work / learning that happens in sessions.

Our BayView clinic (AKA Mini Ascent Campus) was updated and painted fresh! This is still an accessible, eco-conscious, sensory-friendly space that invites clients (and us, as a provider team) to find valuable mental health and holistic recovery practices.

Our Campus is a place for re-discovering art, our bodies and ourselves while healing. It’s a space that allows us to explore what is meaningful for us during times of recovery.

Today, as we go through the week, we are sharing a bit of music (no lyrics) inviting you to stop scrolling and listen (if it’s available to you).

What do you listen to?

Hey guys, I cant thank you all enough for the incredible support you've shown the brothers. They have an INCREDIBLE year ahead of them, releasing a brand new...

Dear AWP readers and community. As you know, we accept donations and we are all for not wasting food!

If you have food at home that it’s too much for you to consume or if you bought too much of a food item you didn’t really like, please consider giving to our community fridge! We really want our food corner to complement what is offered in the community.

We have very little space - and we accept everything you want to donate (foodwise)- but we would prefer:

- Cans that can be opened without a can opener (can food with pull tops)

- Crackers, tortillas, bagels, bread (that we can freeze), or any dry pasta or grains that are within expiration date. Gluten free options would also be a dream!

- Grains and cereal

- Condiments, pickles, sauces, anything to add zing to good meals.

- Spices within 6 months to a year of purchase

- Non Dairy /Plant based options

- Cooking oils within 6 months of purchase ( ideally).

- Frozen veggies!

- Teas or decaf and coffee (within expiration dates)

- Fresh produce (if you have to spare)

- Seeds (during the Spring), potting soil and pots/ bins

- Menstrual products

- Cooking kits (Mac and cheese etc) perhaps with some of the ingredients necessary to cook them

- Detergents (non toxic preferably to account for health issues)

If you have food donations drop them by our front desk on regular open hours! Consider donating rare items when adding to any donation shelf. They make a difference!

As you know, we are fans of ”buy nothing” initiatives and we receive donations from our generous MKE community. We have bikes for donation for clients and this incredible space (and even more amazing staff) offered to tune up and fully fix the bikes we are donating, so that our clients are safe using them. Please check them out and support this non-profit. We love other mission driven spaces around us and we sustain and uplift each other whenever we can!

About Us

Our Story:

Our work with clients wanting to improve their quality of life started about a decade ago, when Tony Langtimm created his first adaptive fitness business in Milwaukee. The mission statement of the gym was to create accessible Fitness services for the Milwaukee community, based on the ASCENT method. This business became known as ASCENT GYM, headquartered in Milwaukee Turners.

Tony's business was created while having in mind the values of minimalism (simplicity of practices and spaces) and community (connection). It was also created to meet the wellness needs of clients with disabilities and chronic physical and mental illness.

The adaptive exercise focus began to uncover a new need in Milwaukee, which resulted in Tony and Cátia Figueiredo (husband and wife) joining forces to start up a space for clinically-informed wellness services. A space where services are not standardized but, yes, tailored to the needs of each client coming through the door.
