Update: Minnie passed away last evening... Thank you for all your messages...I was able to read them to her and they brought back so many memories... She was a very special lady who made a real difference....

Many of you met and worked with Minnie, my 25 year office manager, who made so may things possible for me and families. It is with great sadness that I pass along that she has entered hospice. I have let her know how much she meant to me and many of you, but if you wish to leave a message for her or her family, please direct message me and I will pass the comments along.

A federal judge temporarily halted a U.S. Department of Education plan to gut its special education office, but advocates say that the future of services for students with disabilities remains uncertain.

The elimination of the Special Education section of the Dept of Education is shocking ; this is what kids with special needs depend on. If there is no federal oversight and funding, each state can do what it wants. That means states or school districts with poorer budgets will not be able to provide needed services and will not be accountable for it. Kids could once again end up at staying home, instead of in inclusive educational settings that prepare them for life.
