We are so grateful and thrilled to announce that Student Advocates for Public Health has been recognized as Alverno’s Outstanding Student Organization, and awarded Outstanding Community Service for the 2019-2020 school year!! 🎉🏆💖

Everything we do is out of genuine love and care for our community and everyone who calls it home. We are humbled by this experience and cannot wait to get back to work.

According to research conducted by the CDC, “preventing childhood trauma could potentially prevent 1.9 million cases of coronary heart disease, the leading killer in this country. Similarly, it could prevent 2.5 million cases of obesity or overweight and 21 million cases of depression.”

We didn’t just reach our goal - we crushed it! (so much we lost count)

💪🏼💖👭🌎

‼️ We were able to donate over 9,000 feminine hygiene products between the Alverno College Food Pantry and Joy House Women’s Shelter ‼️

Thank you SO much to everyone that participated in making such a huge contribution towards bettering our community and the lives of our neighbors.

Milwaukee is the THIRD poorest big city in America. 1 in 4 of our neighbors live poverty - 71% of them being women!! 👭
YET 🤯- women are expected to spend on average of $1,000 a year on feminine hygiene products.

Our goal is to help Joy House donate 1,000 boxes of feminine hygiene products to homeless women throughout the Milwaukee area; allowing them to invest more into their future.
