Norovirus update: I think the full strength feed overnight was too much for Tennison's belly because he woke up with diarrhea. For his lunch feed I ended up splitting half with pedialyte and that seemed to help his belly.
In other news:
While at dinner tonight Tennison asked to sit up at the island and join us to eat. Even grabbing a plate and tortilla shell, chips, and water. I quickly found him licking all the seasoning off the chips and chugging his water like a champ.
For those who do not know: Tennison was intubated most of his infancy and never developed his suck/ swallow reflux, also Tennison's anatomy played a role in his ability to eat orally. When Tennison was just over 2 years old he had a gastric transposition which placed his stomach behind his left lung and heart. A part of his esophagus was branched and connected to his stomach to allow him the ability to eat typically. Tennison has been involved in feeding therapy for some time in addition to tons of practice at home. Mustard has always been the go to, favorable food. Lately, Tennison has been trying food pouches with strawberries and oats. We try and offer as much as possible to provide opportunity. Usually he doesn't bother too much but today, today, my heart is happy and he was so proud. Thankful for these celebrations! πππ
