Lots of good tips for this season!
🌸 What proteins do you use for Chinese soups?
From a TCM perspective, it all starts with your health goals and body condition.
Every ingredient, including proteins, have their own unique nature, actions, and contraindications.
Here's a great place to start when deciding what protein to go with. You can also opt for vegetarian options, which I usually do for teas.
The most common proteins in Chinese soups are:
👉 Pork - the most common and abundant protein in China (and even back in the day)
👉 Chicken - also common for that rich, healing soup and often mixed with pork together in Cantonese-styled broths
👉 Fish - the quick boil option that comes in a variety of delicious soups
👉 Beef - not as common, often found with more western-styled Chinese soups and quick boils
👉 Lamb - also not as common, more often found as a stew
