Happy birthday to Elite Care founder, Lydia Lundberg! Lydia’s vision for a new kind of senior living community more than 25 years ago, paved the way for Elite Care, as we know it, today. She continues to be an active member of our community, sharing her life experiences during Culture Club meetings, her love for Portland and its roses when the Royal Rosarians come to visit, and her family’s delicious Apfelstrudel recipe each fall. We are grateful for her passion for and commitment to Elite Care and its residents.

Is there any better way to kick off National Assisted Week and celebrate this year’s theme of “Ageless Adventure” than with a lemonade stand? 🍋 Oatfield Estates residents revisited the nostalgic adventure of setting up the stand (complete with homemade sign) and then enjoyed a cool glass of fresh, tart lemonade with friends. 🍋

We celebrated two, four-year work anniversaries this week. Congratulations to both Shiloh and Shellie! Shiloh, a CADC at Oatfield Estates, always brings creativity and compassion to her role. Shellie, a Med Tech at Oatfield Estates, always leads with kindness and care. We are grateful for Shiloh and Shellie’s commitment and service to Elite Care and our residents.

The Grow With Us Future Leaders Program is open to all Elite Care employees who apply and are accepted. The Nursing Pathway is just one of several outstanding educational pathways available for Grow With Us enrollees to pursue. New employees become eligible for the Grow With Us program after just six months. An outing to the Grotto is always filled with indescribable beauty and serenity. Oatfield Estates residents love visiting this peaceful gem in our community.

Even after the flowers bloom, the Oatfield Estates gardens continue to give back to the community. Residents recently collected seeds from spent blooms. The seeds that were gathered will then be planted in the spring ensuring more summer blooms next year. A full circle moment at Elite Care.

You could say that Christine and Melba had the literal and figurative “plum job” as they prepared these fresh-from-the-estate plums for jam making. Their hard work paid off when they got the first taste of fresh fruit and fresh jam.

Oatfield Estates residents recently went on another outing to the Oregon Military Museum. Residents see and learn something new at every visit. This time, they honored Oregon’s Purple Heart recipients at the Wall of Honor.
