An old Irish blessing goes...

“May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again May God hold you in the hollow of His hand” 🍀

On this St. Patrick’s Day, the Caring Hearts Hospice team is sending a wish of deep peace and comfort to all the families we serve in the Oregon area. We consider it our greatest "luck" and privilege to be invited into your homes to care for the people you love most.

Wishing you a day filled with gentle moments and warm memories.

They say it takes a village to raise a child, but the truth is, it takes a village to care for our elders, too.

To the family caregivers giving up their weekends to manage medications, coordinate visitors, and provide round-the-clock care: We see you. You are doing a beautiful, exhausting job.

If your "village" is feeling a little too small right now, Caring Hearts Hospice is here to step in. We provide the medical support, the shower aides, and the emotional backup so you can go back to just being a daughter, a son, or a spouse.

We are looking for compassionate neighbors in Oregon to join our volunteer team.

You don't need a medical degree. You don't need to be an expert on end-of-life care. You just need to be you.

Volunteering might look like: 📖 Reading a chapter of a book to someone whose eyes are tired. ☕ Sharing a cup of coffee and a story. 🐕 Bringing a pet to visit (if certified!). 🎵 Playing a favorite song. ✋ Or simply sitting in silence so someone isn't alone.

If you have a few hours a month to give, you can change a life. To learn more about becoming a Caring Hearts Volunteer visit

Did you know that hearing is widely believed to be the last sense to fade at the end of life?

Even when a loved one is resting deeply and can no longer speak, they can often still hear you. This is a profound opportunity for comfort.

This weekend, we encourage our families to fill the room with beautiful sounds. Play their favorite record. Read a chapter from a beloved book. Tell them your favorite memory. Or simply say, "I love you. I am right here."

Your voice is the ultimate comfort. ✨

Illness doesn't clock out at 5:00 PM. That is why we don't, either. 🌙

For many families, the night time is when anxiety spikes the highest. Is this breathing normal? Should I give this medication now? What if something changes? True comfort is knowing you never have to guess in the dark.

The Caring Hearts Hospice team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Whether it’s 2:00 PM or 2:00 AM, a caring voice and expert guidance are always just a phone call away for our Oregon families.

Today is Employee Appreciation Day, and our hearts are full of gratitude. ✨

Working in hospice care isn't just a job; it is a profound calling. It requires showing up on the hardest days, driving through the Portland rain in the middle of the night, and holding space for families during their most vulnerable moments.

To our nurses, CNAs, social workers, chaplains, volunteers, and administrative team: Thank you. You bring absolute dignity, expert comfort, and true compassion to the Oregon communities every single day.

We are incredibly proud of the Caring Hearts team!

March is National Social Work Month! 💙

When people think of hospice, they often think of nurses and medical care. But at Caring Hearts Hospice, our Social Workers are unsung heroes who carry the invisible weight.

While our nurses manage physical symptoms, our social workers manage the heavy lifting of the heart and mind. They help families navigate complex emotions, connect them with community resources, assist with confusing paperwork, and provide a safe space to process grief. They are our steady guides in the storm.

To our incredible social work team: Thank you for your fierce advocacy and your endlessly caring hearts.

What does a "good day" look like in hospice?

When a family first joins Caring Hearts, they often ask what they should hope for. We help them redefine a good day. It isn’t about a sudden cure. A good day is a Tuesday with zero pain. It’s an afternoon where anxiety is quiet enough to enjoy a favorite album. It’s having the energy to eat a bowl of your favorite ice cream.

By expertly managing physical discomfort, we clear the way for these beautiful, simple moments to happen. What does a good day look like for your loved one today?

As American Heart Month comes to a close, we are reflecting on what it truly means to be Caring Hearts Hospice.

While our nurses expertly monitor physical heartbeats and manage symptoms, our entire team is dedicated to caring for the emotional heart. Facing the end of life brings a heavy emotional weight for both patients and families. We are here to help carry that weight—through listening, through spiritual support, and through holding space for your most difficult days.

We treat the whole person, and we care for the whole heart. 💙

Real comfort means being prepared. 💙

One of the ways Caring Hearts ensures your loved one’s comfort is through the "Comfort Kit". This is a small supply of medications we leave in the home or with the Assisted Living, Memory Care, Adult Foster Home, or Nursing Facility to manage sudden changes in pain, anxiety, or breathing—specifically for those middle-of-the-night moments.

It means you don't have to run to the pharmacy at 2 AM. It means relief is already there, in the refrigerator or the cupboard, ready when you need it. It is our "safety net" for your peace of mind.

On this Presidents' Day, we honor President Jimmy Carter—not just for his time in the White House, but for his profound example in his later years.

When President Carter entered hospice care, many thought it meant "the end" was immediate. Instead, he showed the world that hospice is a supportive chapter of life. It gave him seasons of baseball games, peanut butter ice cream, and precious time with his family, free from the cycle of hospital visits.

He taught us that choosing hospice isn't "giving up." It is choosing to take control of your time. 💙

What does love look like?

Sometimes it looks like chocolates and flowers. But often, love looks like showing up. It looks like adjusting a pillow so someone can breathe easier. It looks like managing medications in the middle of the night. It looks like sitting quietly by a bedside so a family member can get two hours of sleep.

To our incredible team of nurses, aides, chaplains, social workers, and volunteers: Thank you for pouring your hearts into this community. And to the caregivers giving everything they have: You are love in action.

Happy Valentine’s Day from Caring Hearts Hospice! 💙
