All skills developed by studying with women. Providing support and tools to support yourself, so that you eventually no longer need to rely on me as a practitioner. ALTHOUGH, you may decide you would like Yoga Therapy Bodywork more than most of the other bodywork you've tried. SO, you would have tools between appointments, then you'd be treating yourself to Yoga Therapy just as you would do a massage or acupuncture for healthy and wellbeing.

One of the practices I do and teach is Restorative Tremor. A way to release unexpressed or not fully expressed trauma from our body. This method is an offshoot of TRE ( Trauma Release Exercise), developed by Jessica Schaffer, who formerly trained people in TRE.

There are many ways our body releases and expresses unresolved experiences. Dancing, singing, damn near any creative outlet. Creative outlets are how we solve the biggest problems, how we connect with out own talents, our own dharma.

Experience has shown me that working directly with our nervous system is not only compatible with deeper yoga, it is, in essence, yoga. Yoga being technology for knowing that we are a unique expression of the divine.

Back to Restorative Tremor. Yes, back to a commitment to a practice that I do a 2 or 3 times a week for a few minutes at a time and then having a couple days between to integrate the changes and respond to what my system needs.

Right now it feels like rage, grief and overwhelm are what most people that I'm around are feeling.

If you need a respite, or some Deep Spinal Release bodywork/nervous system support, I'm doing donation-based sessions in PDX on Wed afternoon and on Fridays at Dr Brian Duby's office in SE Portland. Available via Zoom for those who have worked with me and need to re-establish Restorative Tremor.

Meditation…..not remotely my recommendation for nervous system health or trauma. When s**t is going sideways, dance, sing, drum, do art, hit a pillow, do something wacky - move your body, express..

Meditation is about the last thing you need.

if you happen to go into meditation after that, cool!! But to try to sit, when you are in fight/flight/freeze, frankly I'd say that's a fawn response…one response we don't want to cultivate.
