Oui always fix hormones first and then add pharmaceuticals if needed! With the turbulence occurring in our nation lately, however, I have also been encouraging patients not to resist antidepressants if indicated. You don’t get extra points for doing it the hard way — it’s already hard!!!!!

This morning my team got a critical lab value reported. WITHIN THIRTY MINUTES OUR PATIENT WAS IN THE ER. But not just that:

🩷 the patient was notified, counseled on what to do, sent their lab results, and had an explanation and understanding of why it was so urgent

🫡 provider to provider communication was accomplished (thanks to Dr. Roohani who gave me the number to Christus ER because I PLUM FORGOT! After 7 years of dialing it daily lol that memory GONE)

💋 the ER was notified AND faxed results of the lab to have on hand

❤️ a life was, I hope, S A V E D.

You have to realize that this rag tag bunch of warrior women have never experienced situations like this regularly before, not like I have during 12 years of being a hospitalist. They moved fast, with grace and ease, and like a well-oiled machine.

And they do it all JOY FACING. Like, truly.

This doesn't even count the time that PA-C Rebecca Clawson diagnosed a heart attack OVER THE PHONE that ended up resulting in heart surgery for the patient who is now doing SO SO WELL. Like, she's doing SO WELL.

But she thought she was just "coming down with something," HAPPENED TO MENTION IT TO REBECCA (who in her previous life was a CARDIOLOGY PA-C EXTRAORDINAIRE), who then literally saved this amazing woman's life.

I told Rebecca, "I'm not even sure that I would've caught that. That patient seeing YOU was destiny."

So, yeah. I'm feeling pretty good about everything. The best got dang clinic team in the world has me feeling like Oui are doing our part in our little corner of Texas Street in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Save women, save the world.
