🌿✨ Ostara Ritual – Honoring the Balance of Light and Life ✨🌿

As the Wheel of the Year turns and we welcome the sacred energy of Ostara, we stand at the threshold of perfect balance—where day and night embrace as equals. This is a time of renewal, fertility, awakening, and quiet magic blooming beneath the earth.

For both Wiccans and Pagans, this sacred festival is a celebration of life returning, of seeds stirring, and of intentions ready to rise.

🌸 Preparation of the Sacred Space

Cleanse your space with incense, herbs, or gentle intention.
Create a small altar with symbols of spring:
• Eggs (for fertility and new beginnings)
• Flowers (for growth and beauty)
• Candles in yellow, green, or pastel colors
• Crystals such as rose quartz or clear quartz

Stand quietly for a moment. Breathe deeply. Feel the earth awakening beneath you.

🕯️ Wiccan Invocation of Ostara

Light your candles and say:

“I call upon the Goddess of Spring,
Bringer of life, light, and renewal.
I call upon the God of the growing sun,
Whose warmth awakens the Earth.
Bless this sacred time of balance and birth,
As light returns and life unfolds.”

Feel the energy rising around you—gentle, fertile, alive.

🌿 Simple Ritual of Renewal (For All Paths)

Take an egg in your hands. This represents your intentions, your dreams, your new beginnings.

Close your eyes and whisper into it:

“With the light of Ostara, I awaken what sleeps within me.
I plant my desires in fertile ground.
May they grow with strength, harmony, and truth.”

You may keep the egg on your altar, bury it in the earth, or decorate it as a symbol of your intention manifesting.

🌼 Pagan Celebration & Connection to Nature

Pagans often celebrate Ostara by reconnecting with nature:
• Walking in the forest or fields
• Gathering flowers or herbs with gratitude
• Planting seeds (physically or symbolically)
• Offering food, honey, or herbs to the Earth

Always give thanks:

“I honor the Earth, the giver of life.
With respect and gratitude, I receive your gifts.
May I walk in harmony with your cycles.”

✨ Closing the Ritual

Stand in stillness. Place your hands over your heart and say:

“Balance within me, balance around me.
Light and shadow in perfect harmony.
As I will it, so it shall be.”

Gently extinguish the candles (do not blow—use a snuffer or your fingers if safe), sealing the energy.

🌙✨
Ostara reminds us that even in the darkest times, light returns.
This is your moment to bloom, to rise, and to begin again.

Blessed Ostara from Occult Nature 🌿🖤

Have a happy Friday the 13th.

It's Friday the 13th, a day that people either embrace or fear. A day that doesn't usually come around too often.

More than 60 million people worldwide claim to be affected by a fear of Friday 13th. Some of them won’t go to work, drive cars or get out of bed on this day. Many hospitals have no room 13, while airports don't have a Gate 13 and a lot of hotels don't have a floor 13. The official word for the fear of Friday 13th is paraskevidekatriaphobia.

The belief that Friday 13th is bad luck may have sprang from Norse legend when on Friday, 12 Gods were joined by a 13th God, Loki who could be a cruel one, he brought upon humans great misfortune. Loki crashed a party at Valhalla disguised as an old hag and took advantage of the Norse virtue of hospitality and to never turn away a needy guest. The Gods allowed him in and fed him thinking he was a nomad soul passing through. Valhalla was the banquet hall of the Gods. The Gods where enjoying a great feast were Baldur, who was Odin's son was letting people throw spears at him to show his strength and courage. There were 12 guests present at the hall, they were the greatest of the Norse Gods, until Loki arrived. Loki the trickster Norse God was the 13th guest, the affair turned grim when Baldur the beloved son of Odin, the God of light, joy, and reconciliation was killed when Loki tricked Baldur's sightless brother Hod into throwing a spear of mistletoe at him. Mistletoe was the only thing on earth that could kill Baldur. By doing this Loki brought about the promise of Ragnarök which in Norse mythology will be doomsday, when Odin will get revenge on Loki. There will be a great battle between the Gods, this will bring about the end of the world ushering in a new dawn where Baldur will be resurrected and rule in place of Odin.

On Friday 13th in the year 1307 thousands of soldier monks of the powerful Knights Templar were massacred by French king Louis IV it is said that blood ran through the streets like a river. Many people believe this is where our fear of the date springs from. The Pope of the church in Rome in Conjunction with the King of France, carried out a secret death warrant Against "the Knights Templar". The Templar's were terminated as heretics, never again to hold the power that they had held for so long. The Grand Master Jacques De Molay was arrested and before he was killed, he was tortured and crucified, this was carried out on Friday 13th and there were 13 High Templar's which ruled the Knights Templar.

In Spanish-speaking countries, Tuesdays dated the 13th not Fridays are considered unlucky. In Italian culture, Friday the 17th is considered unlucky. The number 13 appears many times on the U.S. $1 bill there are 13 stars, 13 stripes, 13 steps, 13 arrows and even has an olive branch with 13 leaves on it. Also there were 13 colonies in British North America. There are 13 stars and stripes on the original American flag.

From a religious standpoint, Muslims tout Friday as the day Allah created Adam, legend has it that Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, the apple on a Friday and later died on a Friday and Christians consider Friday as the day on which Christ was crucified by the Romans. Also the number 13 in the Christian faith is the number of guests at the Last Supper with the 13th guest at the table being the traitor Judas. When Christians combine this day and number the combination can only hold special significance. In Judaism The Bar Mitzvah is held at age 13 on a Friday the Jewish Sabbath day. The Bible also lists 13 attributes of God.

Only 2 weeks until Ostara, which is on March 20th, it is celebrated on the Spring Equinox, when both night and day are at equal length. A time of great balance between light and dark.

The winter, harsh and long is now fading. The Earth is waking from her frozen slumber and it’s time to rejoice in life, warmth and a renewal of the spirit. Come celebrate and worship as we give birth to all things fresh and new. Let us reconnect with family, loved ones and friends, old and new as we turn the Great Wheel to Ostara.

On Ostara night and day stand in perfect balance, but after Ostara light will take over dark. Ostara is a fertility festival, celebrating the birth of Spring and the reawakening of life from the earth. The energies of nature subtly shift from the sluggishness of Winter to the exuberant expansion of Spring. It is a time of great fertility, new growth, and new born animals. The Goddess blankets the earth with fertility as she bursts forth from her winter sleep. The young God stretches and grows to maturity as he walks the greening fields and delights in the abundance of nature.

Traditionally, Ostara is a time for collecting wildflowers, walking in nature’s beauty, planting seeds and cultivating herb gardens. This is the time to free yourself from anything in the past that is holding you back. At this time, we think of renewing ourselves. We renew our thoughts, our dreams and our aspirations.

This is an excellent time of year to begin everything new or to completely revitalize something. This is also an excellent month for prosperity rituals or rituals that have anything to do with growth. Fill your altars with any spring time flowers and seeds, coloured and painted eggs, rabbit and hare images and statues and candles of white, yellow, green, light blue, orange and gold. Any spring herbs you have such as lavender, jasmine, patchouli, rosemary, thyme, marjoram, tarragon or sunflower seeds. Use any spring crystals you may have such as clear quartz, rose quartz, agate, lapis lazuli, amazonite, sunstone, green aventurine, peridot and garnet.

The name for this Sabbat actually comes from that of the Teutonic lunar Goddess Ostara or Eostre as she is sometimes known. Her chief symbols were the rabbit or hare that represents fertility, and the egg which represents new life and rebirth. This is where the customs of “Easter Eggs” and the “Easter Bunny” originated.

Tonight is the Full Crow Moon also known as the Worm Moon and the Sap Moon. Called the Crow Moon for the cawing crows around this time that signal the end of winter. As the earth thaws worms start to appear. And it marks the time when maple sap begins to flow and the annual tapping of maple trees begins.

The Spring Equinox is just around the corner, when both day and night are at equal length we are reminded to find our own inner balance. focus inward toward inner wisdom and self-analysis. This Full Moon is in the sign of Virgo, this will give us a keen eye for detail, we will see things and people and situations in our lives with crystal clarity, a light will be illuminated allowing us to see beyond the shadows. This is a time of cultivating and growing, just as the Suns energy and nature is doing at this time. Plant the seeds of new ventures, plan for the future, think about what it is you want and need and set about putting a plan into action. Use this energy for your own personal transformation, rebirth and regrowth.

Tonight's Full Moon illuminates our inner feelings and desires, so emotions can be quite raw and enhanced. The Virgo Full Moon means we may be over critical of ourselves and of others, try not to see the bad in everything instead look for the good. The Virgo sign is a very hard working and practical sign so use its energy for getting jobs done that you have been putting off for a while. Virgo is not scared to face deep issues, so tackle any problems and bring them to an end.

This Full Moon brings light to whatever was hidden in the darkness or buried within the subconscious such as emotional pain or our deepest desires, but once awareness happens you are able to make realistic changes. Our emotional levels move like strong turbulent waves in the ocean during high tide for some during this Full Moon. Emotional reactions may be strong, energies may feel irritable or uptight. We are amidst great times of transformation which are heralding major new beginnings. Change isn't always easy or comfortable and it’s constant, so we must strive to keep our balance during these changing tides.

The world as it stands is challenged by many opposing forces now. We feel them both personally and collectively, pushing against our own will, raising difficult questions, triggering issues we would rather avoid. How we keep our own balance of light and dark and manage our own inner conflicts largely dictates how we manage outside ones. If we struggle with our own anger or hatred, telling ourselves we shouldn’t feel this way, we will struggle to respond effectively to the anger of others, allow yourself to feel angry or upset, but don't let it take over, keep a balance. If we fear our own power, preferring to see ourselves as victim rather than creator we may succumb to the power wielded by others, adopting their thoughts and priorities, behaviors and lifestyles without discerning the right path for us. If we refuse to acknowledge our own inner selfishness that demands its own way no matter what, we may project it onto the world around us, pointing the finger of judgement and even becoming a bully. Don't suppress your feelings, embrace your light and your dark sides as one cannot exist without the other. We need both. Let go of guilt and allow yourself to feel what you're feeling without self-judgement.

Let the energy of this Full Moon wash over you and cleanse your spirit, use it to heal you both emotionally and physically. Let the moonlight bathe and sooth you mind, body and soul. let the earth element of Virgo heal you. Stay away from self-doubt. Seek a balance of light and dark and see the truth in your life however much it may hurt, only then can you do something about it and begin to heal.

Have a blessed Full Moon, may the Goddess watch over you.

The Green Witch and the Moon

A Green Witch is someone who works closely with nature, plants, and the cycles of the Earth. She draws magic from the natural world—herbs, flowers, stones, and the changing seasons.

One of the most important practices of a Green Witch is charging herbs under the moon. The moon holds powerful energy, and each phase has a special influence:
• New Moon: Use this phase to plant new intentions, cleanse herbs, or prepare for new beginnings.
• Waxing Moon: Herbs charged now grow energy, strength, and growth in spells and potions.
• Full Moon: The full moon gives herbs maximum power—perfect for healing, love, protection, or any ritual where energy needs to peak.
• Waning Moon: Herbs charged under the waning moon are good for banishing, releasing, or removing negativity.

To charge herbs, a Green Witch often leaves them outside or on a windowsill where moonlight can touch them. Sometimes she will place crystals nearby or whisper intentions to amplify the magic.

Becoming a Green Witch

Becoming a Green Witch is a journey of connection with the natural world:
1. Learn about plants and herbs – Understand their energies, properties, and how they can be used in spells or healing.
2. Follow the cycles of nature – Pay attention to the moon, the seasons, and the energy of each day.
3. Practice mindfulness and observation – Notice the patterns in nature and in yourself. Magic comes from awareness and intention.
4. Start small rituals – Charge herbs, create protective talismans, or craft simple potions to strengthen your connection to nature.
5. Respect all living things – A Green Witch honors plants, animals, and the Earth, using magic to work with life, not against it.

A Green Witch doesn’t need fancy tools—her power comes from love for the Earth, patience, and intention. Over time, this connection grows stronger, and her magic becomes as natural as the wind, the rain, and the sunlight.

Tonight is a New Moon in Aquarius heralding in a powerful new start. This New Moon is truly a new birth of life, inspiration and ideas. It is energetically connected to our personal evolution, like a butterfly coming out of it's chrysalis. The earth is changing now all around us as it wakes to the Spring, we are also waking up to what we need to do to grow and move on in our lives. The energy of transformation is being seeded within each of us now.

This is the perfect New Moon to work with our dreams and visions, with art and creativity, music and writing, to let our inventive side take over. Aquarius is an air element and air forms a doorway to other realms, a way of being which lets us shape-shift into what we want to be. You may find yourself drifting and caught by distraction, unable to focus. Your psyche is pulling you away from the normal world and into a place of the imagination. This is no time to resist or hold back, let your mind run wild. This is a time to make wishes and go for what you want.

This New Moon makes a bold statement leaving no stone unturned, it may symbolically or literally directly point the way to a new path that is yet untraveled and shoot you in a new direction. The New Moon will bring in wonderful surprises. There will be twists and turns around every corner. Keep your eyes open for new opportunities that may come out of the blue.

The Aquarius New Moon will be a very emotional one. We will be feeling everything much more deeper than usual, we may find ourselves happy or crying for no reason. We will find it hard to sleep and we may experience weird or unsettling dreams. This is our minds way of dealing with our emotions and releasing them.

During the next few days you may experience a feelings of anger or a sense of being misunderstood. You may be feeling frustrated and that you need to get moving in your life, that things are happening too slowly. There may be some anxiety and impatience over where you are and where you want to be. People will be acting more assertive and argumentative (traffic, work, relationships etc). Your pets may start acting strangely, there will be more spirit or ghost sightings. There will be more intense weather patterns happening such as storms or thunder. Try to stay calm as these will pass. There is a major shift happening right now on the earth and within us and we will physically feel this energy.

This New Moon is all about change, it is a breath of much needed fresh air. There will be a small uncomfortable time of adjustment as we move into the new but we will come out of it feeling refreshed and ready to take on the world. Let the winds of Aquarius cleanse and heal you. This is a lucky time, so do things that you felt you couldn't do in the past, be a bit bolder, a bit louder, ask for what you want from the universe, let your thoughts and desires manifest into something real.

Have a blessed New Moon, may the Goddess watch over you.

On the New Moon on Tuesday, February 17th will be the Lunar New Year which will be the start of the Year Of The Horse. This is a 12-year cycle event symbolizing intense energy, action, freedom, and rapid change. Previous Horse years have been 2014, 2002, 1990, 1978, 1966, and 1954.

This will be the year of the fire horse which happens about every 60 years. This energy brings cultural shifts, war, natural disasters, intense change, rebellion, and progress. Fire is energy, passion, enthusiasm, movement. Combined with the energy of the horse, this is amplified to an almost chaotic place. The last year of the fire horse was in 1966.

𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫

Independence & freedom – Horses hate being confined. This year favors independence, travel, and breaking out of stale situations.

Energy & drive – It’s a fast paced year. Things move quickly, sometimes chaotically, but rarely stay still for long.

Confidence & charisma – The Horse is associated with charm, visibility, and being noticed. This will be great for leadership, performance, and public roles or if you want to be seen in a certain role or situation. Stand out.

Progress through action – Less talk, more doing. Success comes from decisiveness rather than over-planning.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬:

Starting new ventures (especially those involving travel, communication, or new business or money making schemes)

Taking risks

Following passion over obligation

Letting go of routines that feel restrictive

Overall, the Year of the Horse is viewed as a catalyst year, less about quiet reflection, more about charging forward and trusting your momentum. If you’ve been waiting for a push to act, this is traditionally considered a very good year for it.

Reiki, a form of energy healing, is a Japanese practice that is used to reduce stress, improve health and quality of life, and support physical and emotional healing. Research suggests that using Reiki as a complementary therapy activates the parasympathetic nervous system to heal body and mind via the relaxation response. Reiki is accessible to everyone and is easy to learn. Practitioners use specific hand positions, held for a few minutes on or near the client’s clothed body.

After receiving the Reiki 1 certificate, participants will be able to perform self-treatments and provide treatments for others. Generally, Reiki providers do not begin practicing professionally until they have received the second degree. Participants who complete Reiki 1 training will be eligible for continuing education credits.
