🕯️ Mother’s Night 🕯️

Mother’s Night is the sacred night that falls on the eve of Yule, steeped in deep ancestral memory and feminine power. It is the night we honor our Mothers - ancestral spirits, matriarchs, and divine feminine forces who guard lineage, fate, and home. Those who have watched over us and helped us in our times of need. It is a night of stillness, mystery, and reverence, when the veil feels especially thin, and the old wisdom stirs.

Mother’s Night also marks a turning inward. The darkness has reached its peak, and the world pauses in breathless quiet before the return of the light. This is not a night for outward celebration, but for reflection, remembrance, and honoring what has carried us through the long year.

Candles are lit in silence, offerings are made, and prayers are whispered to those who came before, especially the women whose lives, labor, and love shaped the path beneath our feet.

Mother’s Night holds the womb-space of the year. It is the sacred pause between ending and beginning, where intentions are not yet spoken aloud but are gently formed in the heart. Grief, gratitude, and hope are all welcome here. Nothing needs to be fixed or decided. Simply being present is enough.

As the final night before Yule’s rebirth, Mother’s Night reminds us that light is born from darkness, strength is rooted in lineage, and transformation begins in quiet devotion. It is a night to honor where you come from and to trust what is quietly growing within you.

It's YULE EVE!!

YULE is also the WINTER SOLTICE. For Pagans and Wiccans this is a celebration of the return of light, the days will gradually get longer from here, until their gradual decent again on the arrival of the Summer Solstice (Litha).

This is also a time of reflection. A time to celebrate with family and friends, and a time to put differences aside regardless of what beliefs, or religious backgrounds we all come from.

YULETIDE Blessings to you all!!

Traditional Folklore of Holly 🌲
In ancient traditions, especially in modern paganism, the year is seen as a battle between two figures. The Oak King who rules the light half of the year, Summer and the Holly King who rules the dark half of the year Winter.
The Holly King is defeated by the Oak King at the Summer Solstice and the Holly King takes back the throne at the Winter Solstice, Yule. This represents the sun's rebirth and the slow return of the light.
Holly's prickly, thorny leaves were believed to repel malevolent spirits, mischievous fairies, and bad luck. Bringing it into the home, was a way to fortify the house against winter hardship and dark forces.
Placing holly near doors and windows was a common practice for household protection.
Holly is often associated with the masculine principle, while Ivy is associated with the feminine. Together in a wreath, they symbolize the union of the sexes and the balance of nature.
Despite it's protective qualities for humans, tradition holds that fairies would take shelter in holly bushes during the harsh winter. Bringing Holly into the home was also a way to share warmth with the nature spirits.
Holly was sometimes used to induce prophetic dreams. If a person wished to dream of their future love, they might place a sprig of Holly under their pillow.
Holly's enduring green color and vibrant red berries in the midst of winter darkness, made it a powerful symbol of everlasting life and the promise that the sun would always return.

Tonight is The Full Cold Moon, it is called the Cold Moon because after tonight the temperature will start to drop rapidly. It is also known as The Oak Moon and Yule Moon. This is an especially special Full Moon because it is the final Full Moon of 2025. This will also be one of the biggest and brightest Moons of the year.

The Full Moon tonight will also be a Supermoon. The Supermoon occurs when the Moon is the closest to the earth more than any other time of the year, making the Moon appear up to 30% bigger and brighter than usual. The Supermoon not only affects nature such as the tides and wildlife it also affects us, our emotions will be heightened, our senses will be sharp, things that were hidden or in the shadows can now be seen. A Supermoon amplifies the effects of a normal Moon, we will be feeling ultra-sensitive and emotional at this time.

Tonight's Full Moon is in the sign of Gemini, it will be an intense highly charged Moon filled with strong emotions coming to the surface, don't hold them back let them out, this is a time of release, of letting go and being our own true authentic selves, let the world see the real you. Something has been building inside of us and now is the time when the energy of the cosmos demands that we let it out.

This is a particularly lucky Full Moon, so don't be afraid to go for the things you want, lady luck is shining on you right now so be ready for all that the universe is ready to gift you, open your hands and your heart and take your universal gifts. Don't be scared to dream big and ask for more. Be positive and open yourself up to allow the good to come in to your life. Be ambitious, go for what you want or put plans into place to get what you want in the future. You will have an inner strength now that will pull you through anything that comes up against you.

This is a time to look back on the year passed and reflect on all the lessons we have learned and the people who have come and gone in our lives. As we come to the end of this year we should use the energy of this Full Moon to energize ourselves for the coming Yule and New Year. All the inner work you have focused on this year will now be the foundation for bringing more power, love and energy into your life in this creative, forward-moving period. On this Full Moon we can truly bring in change and transform ourselves to be who we want to be, we will feel braver and more confident than usual. Good fortune will be on your side. Let your thoughts and desires manifest into something real.

This Full Moon brings light to whatever was hidden in the darkness or buried within the subconscious such as emotional pain or our deepest desires, but once awareness happens you are able to make realistic changes. Our emotional levels move like strong turbulent waves in the ocean during high tide for some on this Full Moon in Gemini, we may feel at a cross roads in our lives and are unsure of which path to take, trust your instincts and let them guide you. Emotional reactions may be strong, energies may feel irritable or uptight, but don't worry this will soon pass.

We are amidst great times of transformation which are heralding major new beginnings. Change isn't always easy or comfortable and it’s constant, so we must strive to keep our balance during these changing tides. Embrace the changes coming and steer them in a positive direction.

Let the air element of Gemini blow away any negativity, let the energy of this Full Moon sweep over you and heal your spirit, use it to heal you both emotionally and physically. Let the moonlight bathe and sooth you, body and soul. Seek a balance of light and dark and see the truth in your life however much it may hurt, only then can we do something about it. Now is a time of reaping the rewards of all the hard work we have put in this year and try and relax a little and let the current take you to a new and exciting New Year.

Have a blessed Full Moon, may the Goddess watch over you.

Long Nights Moon ~ Oak Moon ~ Mourning Moon

🌕 Tomorrow's Full Moon (23.14 in London) is called the Long Nights Moon as it is near the Winter Solstice. It is also called the Oak Moon because this is when the Oak King overcomes the Holly King.

🌕 Pagans call this Full Moon the Mourning Moon, the last Full Moon before the Winter Solstice. The Mourning Moon is the perfect time to let go of old possessions, emotions and situations that are no longer good for us, while giving us permission to mourn their passing.

🌕 Since before medieval times this moon has been considered a time of mystery, magic and ritual. Druid priests hold the oak tree very sacred and perform rituals during the December full moon using acorns and candles to renew their commitment to the gods.

🌕 The Chinese call it this moon Bitter Moon while Native American Indians refer to it as the Cold Moon & Snow moon.

I keep seeing online that Christmas ‘belongs to pagans,’ or that Christians ‘stole’ the holiday. But the truth is simple: every tradition carries pieces of many cultures, and every faith has shaped winter celebrations in its own way.

Decorating a Christmas tree, for example, is often called witchcraft — and honestly, even if someone sees it that way, it is a beautiful form of intention. You hang your wishes, your blessings, your hopes for the year to come. Every light, every ornament is a little prayer, a little piece of magic for your home.

What matters is not who ‘owns’ the holiday. What matters is how each soul celebrates it. Christians, pagans, witches, spiritual paths of all kinds — everyone has the right to honour this season in the way that feels true to them.

Belief is personal. Respect is universal.

So celebrate Christmas, Yule, or the Winter Season in the way your heart calls you. A holiday of light, love, and hope belongs to everyone who chooses to welcome it.

The Triple Goddess and Her Power in Magic

The Triple Goddess is one of the most enduring and sacred symbols in modern and ancient magical traditions. She represents the eternal cycle of life, the phases of the Moon, and the three great transformations of feminine energy.
Honored as Maiden, Mother, and Crone, the Triple Goddess embodies wisdom, creation, and the timeless rhythm of nature’s unfolding.

In magic, she teaches that all things move through cycles — beginnings, fullness, and release — and that each phase holds its own strength, its own lesson, and its own form of power.

The Maiden – New Beginnings and Potential

The Maiden is the energy of dawn, youth, curiosity, and freedom.
She represents new intentions, fresh ideas, inspiration, and the spark of hope.
In magical practice, the Maiden supports:
• new paths and opportunities
• cleansing and renewal
• creativity and exploration
• rites of growth and self-discovery

She is the waxing Moon — rising, expanding, and awakening potential.

The Mother – Creation, Protection, and Fullness

The Mother is the full Moon — radiant, nurturing, and powerful.
She represents creation, abundance, stability, and the ability to manifest dreams into reality.
In magic, her presence strengthens:
• manifestation and prosperity work
• protection and nurturing energy
• emotional grounding
• rituals of love, connection, and purpose

She is the heart of the cycle — life in its fullness.

The Crone – Wisdom, Transformation, and Release

The Crone is the waning Moon, carrying ancient knowledge and deep intuition.
She guides endings, transitions, and the release of what no longer serves.
In magical practice, the Crone aids:
• shadow work
• spiritual insight
• closing cycles
• protection, boundaries, and truth-seeing

Her energy is the mystery — the quiet power of understanding and transformation.

The Triple Goddess in Magical Practice

To work with the Triple Goddess is to embrace the flow of nature and the phases within oneself.
She teaches that:
• beginnings hold promise
• fullness carries strength
• endings create space for rebirth

Through her three faces, the practitioner learns to honor each stage of life with respect and presence.
The Triple Goddess is not only a deity, but a living symbol of the magical path itself — ever-changing, ever-growing, and eternally renewed.
