We welcome a fresh layer of snow as a reminder to slow down and take time to turn inward this winter. ❄️

Join Jes from for one more Yoga Nidra session tomorrow from 6-7:30pm! The theme for this class is “Hope and Joy”— a wonderful and necessary focus during a difficult season here in MN and beyond. 🤍

February newsletter went out earlier this week. A few things to note:

😴 Yoga Nidra with Jes is back! Thursdays from 6-730pm on 2/5, 2/12, 2/19. Sign up on our website or the MindBody app. A few spots remain for this week!

❄️ We have a couple of events coming up outside the studio. and are hosting us for their Winter Wellness events. More deets on our website under Workshops and Events!

🫶 We are still collecting donations on behalf of the and for our neighbors. Drop off non-perishable food and hygiene items or find a mutual aid rent relief fund online and donate there!

HUM stands with and in support of our immigrant neighbors who continue to be targeted, terrorized, and treated as less than. We are working to uplift those who are in need and those who are doing the work to keep our neighbors housed, fed, and loved. 🤍

✨ MEET LINDA ✨

Linda’s yoga and barre classes are rooted in the mind-body connection. She encourages students to listen to their bodies and make adjustments that feel authentic and nourishing. In her classes, students are invited to know and trust their bodies rather than run from them.

Linda has been teaching yoga for over 16 years, a practice that has deepened her understanding of stillness, being fully present in the body, and quieting the mind. Much of her teaching style is shaped by her personal experience and the emotional insights that arise during longer-held postures.

Originally from the Bahamas, Linda enjoys spirituality, staying active, and spending time with her husband and her amazing puppy, Matcha.

Yoga Nidra returns! Join Jes Rosenberg at HUM in February for three Thursday evenings of relaxation and care. We are thrilled to have this beloved teacher and series back to support you in this incredible practice.

Yoga Nidra is roughly translated as “yogic sleep”. It is a self-healing and nurturing practice that helps you to reconnect with your inner knowing. Laying down, you get into a ‘rest nest’ and are guided in a deep, systematically relaxing meditation. Your brain flows into a transformative Theta state of consciousness (awareness) that occurs between waking and sleeping.

The uplifting meditation practice is a very gentle and positive way to reset your bodies flow of energy so that you can release stagnation and blocks and create a change of consciousness.

Sign up online for each session you’d like to attend or email us for a discounted rate if you attend all three. There is also one scholarship for anyone to attend the whole series for free. Email us to inquire— we will prioritize those is marginalized and underserved groups. 🤍

In light of the Nationwide Shutdown this Friday, January 30, HUM will remain open as a space for community care. If you need a safe, warm place to be, to move, rest, or simply be in community, you are welcome here.

What’s happening right now asks a lot of us. We are so proud of the ways our communities continue to care for one another and we’re grateful to be able to hold space together.

Making time for rest and nervous system care feels especially important right now. As part of our Community Care Hours, we’re grateful to be joined by who will be offering a free community sound bath at HUM on Friday, January 23rd.

This hour of sound and relaxation is intended to support the nervous system and offer space to pause, reset, and simply be. Please pre-register to save your spot, as space is limited, and if your plans change, kindly remove yourself from the class so another neighbor can attend.

You’re welcome to bring a yoga mat and anything that helps you rest comfortably, and we encourage arriving a few minutes early to get settled.

We’re so grateful for the chance to share this time of stillness and care with you. 🤍

HUM is a community centered, locally rooted small business grounded in care for people and the neighborhoods we serve. We’ve been reflecting on how we can show up in care and solidarity on Friday during the shutdown, and have made the decision to stay open as a calm, grounding space for Community Care: A day to rest, connect, move gently, or simply be in community.

🕙Community Care Hours:
10:30am – 2:30pm | Drop in anytime
A space to slow down, be present, and connect with others in whatever way feels right. Supplies will be available to make signs for the 2pm march, and we’ll have light snacks, coffee, and tea for anyone who wants them.

🫶🏽Classes:
Classes on this day will be offered on a pay what you can basis for anyone who needs to move, breathe, cry, or simply be in community.

🍎Food Drive:
We’ll also be collecting non-perishable food and hygiene items for a food drive organized by  and the . If you are able, we invite you to bring items to donate. These donations will go to families at a local elementary school. Suggested items include:

* Canned vegetables, soups, meals, proteins (chicken, fish, beans)
* Rice, dried beans, grains, pasta, pasta sauce, cooking oil, flour, sugar, pancake mix, cereal
* Hygiene products: soap, toothpaste, toilet paper
* Optional games and activities for kids staying home

We stand in solidarity with our immigrant communities and all those targeted by systems of harm— and we always will! However you are able to participate, whether resting, moving, making signs, donating, or simply being. You are welcome here.♥️
