We had an excellent time at the International Conference on Forensic Nursing Science & Practice, where we had the honor of sharing our presentation, "Looking Beyond Bias: Comprehensive Screening and Assessment for Trafficking and Exploitation" and poster, "Addressing Bias in Forensic Nursing Practice."

Minnesota was strongly represented in the other presentations, with our forensic nursing friends at Allina sharing, "Solidarity in Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners" about their unionization efforts, and our colleagues at RE Lab presenting, "Wound Identification and Photography for Patients of Diverse Skin Tones."

We even found our recent publication about our trafficking skills lab cited in another presentation!

We came away from the conference armed with inspiration and energy to push forensic nursing practice forward, and are feeling humbled to be part of such an incredible community.

This summer, we were honored to host two incredible Rockswold Scholars—Joy and Mauricio—at the Hennepin Healthcare Simulation Center, as part of our partnership with St. Olaf College and the Rockswold Health Scholars Program.

Over the 10-week program, Joy and Mauricio worked diligently on innovative, cost-effective training tools to support healthcare education: Joy developed a realistic pericardiocentesis puncture pad trainer, and Mauricio created a cervical dilation trainer. Both presented their work at the Scholars Conference with professionalism and creativity.

We are so grateful for their contributions and proud of the passion they brought to our team. Congratulations to all the Rockswold Scholars on your outstanding projects—your work is helping shape the future of healthcare! 💙👏
