Character day! Kaleidoscope kids had a BLAST dressing up as minions, Harry Potter, and other characters! They even had a Minion themed lunch and earned tickets to watch The Minion Movie! 💛

One of the BEST things about being a community based provider in the community is opportunities like this! While on short walk, we passed a garage sale. This little one spotted a Barbie and asked to buy it. She was able to practice a skill and got to make her very first purchase!

Advocating is imperative!

If we don’t advocate for our children, who will? But what happens when they become adults?
Black autistic individuals must be equipped to advocate for themselves—in school, the workplace, and everyday life.
💡 3 Steps to Empower Self-Advocacy:
✅ Teach them their rights. Schools & employers won’t always offer accommodations.
✅ Role-play real-life scenarios. So they know how to ask for what they need.
✅ Encourage self-expression. Confidence starts with knowing you deserve to be heard.
Too often, Black autistic voices are ignored or silenced. We must ensure they are heard.

Let’s be real—autism is often misunderstood in Black families.
❌ “They’ll grow out of it.”
❌ “That’s just bad behavior.”
❌ “That’s for white kids.”
🚨 Enough is enough. Autism is NOT a bad word. It’s a different way of experiencing the world—and early support leads to better outcomes.
We must shift the narrative in our community:
✅ Autism is not a limitation.
✅ Seeking help doesn’t mean failure.
✅ Our children deserve to be understood & supported.
