SEEKING A CO-TEACHER for my weekly outdoor yoga project! Ideal for a yoga teacher in Northeast Mpls (or near). It runs every Saturday through the summer at 8am and I will need an alternate for handful of days that I will be away. PLEASE CONTACT MIKE here via Messenger.

Make your existing yoga practice more “meditative.” We already have too much physical and mental activity in our lives. Our practice should strive—while physical, sure—to include sorely needed mental balance and nervous system regulation. PRACTICE calming the mind instead of constantly activating it.

To begin meditating, MAKE IT SIMPLE. Sit very comfortably. Just do 5 MINUTES. And remember that while quiet bliss is the goal, it’s super elusive! The bulk of what we are doing IS THE “PRACTICE” of calming the mind, which creates a more mindful second nature in our daily life.

Do something meditatIVE for 5 minutes! Think about how many minutes you spend scrolling apps like this one. Probably more than you realize. That activity as “numbing” as it seems is actually ACTIVATING your nervous system. We already get too much of that. Meditation doesn’t HAVE to be just sitting in silence (though that IS the goal). It can include things to help keep your focus: breathing patterns or guided imagery to give the mind an anchor while you LEARN to be content with stillness.

Yoga = Meditation. Meditation = Yoga. Regardless of the forms they take, yoga and meditation are linked in the Indian traditions. Both are about stilling the mind. This, to (a) rebalance the overstimulating effects of our lives and (b) lead us to real inner peace.
