It’s National Speech-Language Hearing Month! While we cover a large scope of practice, most of my clients fall under the “speech” and “language” umbrellas. Typical speech deficits show up ad as “my child can’t say their /r/ sound” or “I notice they stutter at the beginning of their words”. Typical language deficits show up as “my child doesn’t follow directions” or “the stories they tell are confusing”.

✨ Lots of learning happening over at CST! Completed PROMPT training with a very special zoom guest this week. So excited to begin using PROMPT techniques with clients!! ✨

Winter is upon us, & it's time to focus on winter vocabulary! So many communication skills can be improved during these wintery months!

✨ Describe what's happening outside: "It's white", "snow falling", "I see footprints", "Snow plow is driving".

✨Using good speech sounds: "Snow", "Let'S Sled", "WRapping pResents".

✨Following directions when: making cookies (first flour, then sugar), decorating the tree (red ornament above/below green ornament), wrapping presents (fold up, fold next, tape after, etc.).

✨Using our AAC devices: "hello," "Merry Christmas!" "Happy Kwanza!", "Happy Hanukkah", "thank you", etc.
