Okay folks, let’s talk hormones! 💕
Hormones are chemical messengers made by endocrine organs throughout the body, and each plays a unique role in helping you function at your best.
1️⃣ The pituitary & hypothalamus act like your body’s control center, receiving information from all over and sending out signals that tell other glands when to make hormones.
2️⃣ The thyroid is essential for fetal development, metabolism in adults, and the proper function of nearly every body system. The parathyroid glands regulate calcium levels to keep bones strong and nerves firing properly.
3️⃣ The adrenal glands produce precursors to estrogen and testosterone, stress hormones like cortisol, and molecules that help regulate blood pressure.
4️⃣ The pancreas produces insulin to help you use blood sugar for energy, and glucagon to release stored sugar when blood sugar drops too low.
5️⃣ The ovaries produce estrogen and progesterone, which regulate the menstrual cycle and play a key role in fertility, mood, and bone health.
While each hormone has a primary job, none of them work in isolation. Hormone systems “talk” to each other all the time. For example, have you ever missed a period during a really stressful time? Or noticed more acne while gaining weight?
You can support proper hormone signals in tangible ways through:
🥦 Using food as medicine
🏃🏻♀️ Moving your body regularly
😴 Prioritizing restorative sleep
🏝️ Taking time for relaxation and self‑care
🌿 Thoughtful use of botanical medicines
💊 Targeted nutritional supplements when appropriate
Hormones adapt to change. So can you. ✨
