In addition to medical, behavioral, and dental healthcare, our dedicated team of care coordinators works

to connect patients with legal, financial, and other social services. We treat patients like whole people, not just health issues. People's Center has provided individualized, culturally-competent healthcare to the South Minneapolis community for 50 years. Our dedicated team of bilingual staff and trained care coordinators reflect the characteristics of patients served --more than 60% of our staff are people of color and 40% are bilingual.

Our Story

People’s Center is a nationally recognized non-profit community health center serving diverse communities in south Minneapolis and surrounding communities. People’s Center operates a network of three clinics and accepts all patients regardless of their ability to pay.

PCCS’s mission is to deliver affordable health care, inspire hope and promote community wellness. We achieve these three pillars by offering integrated medical, dental and behavioral health care and supportive services thereby creating a one-stop shop opportunity for all patients. PCCS health care providers and staff reflect the diversity of patients served, with more than 60% being people of color and 40% bilingual.

People’s Center Clinics & Services was initially founded as Cedar Riverside People’s Center in 1970 by grassroots organizers in the neighborhood who sought to address the needs of the West Bank students and residents. The result was one of Minnesota’s first free medical clinics. In 2003, People’s Center became a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). Since becoming an FQHC, the number of patients served annually by People’s Center increased from 2,000-9,000– demonstrating the burgeoning need for accessible and affordable health care in our service area. We also added behavioral health services and expanded our supportive services .People’s Center is now a Minnesota Health Care Home certified clinic, validating our commitment to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care.
