Day 4: Digital Detox

In the journal, Child development, there was a study that found out daily technology use could increase the possibility of mental health problems such as ADHD, conduct disorder, anxiety, & self regulation. Decreasing your usage could reduce stress, improve your sleep habits, help maintain a work-life balance, & etc. There are many ways to do a digital detox. Start small by deleting some things off of your devices. For example: Phone numbers that you no longer need or apps that you spend too much time on or don’t use at all. Just make sure that whatever goal you set is realistic, have a set time limit, & it works for you!

Arubah’s President, Anissa Keyes, speaks out about the emotional impact for the children of color that were detained by Maplewood Police. This is reason why Arubah focuses on providing services to communities of color. We provide an affirming space to support our clients especially the clients who have to deal with things that they should not have to experience.

Arubah: The Story

Arubah was founded by its President Anissa Keyes in August of 2012. Initially it started with an office space in Brooklyn Center providing outpatient therapy services. It has since grown to several office spaces in 3 different areas of the Twin Cities. We currently provide on-site, in-home and in office services to Hennepin and Ramsey County residents. We have partnered with over 15 local agencies to provide restorative care to the participants and clients at those agencies. Additionally, Arubah has expanded services to include ARMHS services in 2015, CTSS as of 2017, with the newest program being The Healing Center which opened in 2018!

Arubah's mission to provide accessible services to those least likely to receive them has remained the same. The partnerships, programming and expansion have birthed from an ongoing organic space of addressing the needs of the populations we are serving. And we are truly honored to serve them.
