While birth stories are not mine to share or much less, create. We can help fill in blanks and piece together the "what happened," questions. Doulas feel the waves of plans going awry as well as the family. Everyone who is impacted by the birth will come out with a feeling of how it went and it may be very similar or different.
I believe that the most important viewpoint is that of the birthing person but it can be helpful in debriefing births in the postpartum time to help piece together the gaps for the family.
We find ourselves assisting in carrying the emotions and helping navigating the decisions as they arise in birth. I am forever grateful for the support of the birth community to help process and continue to learn from births experiences. What a rewarding line of work we get to be in. I am so grateful to be invited in to each birth room that I've been a part of over the past decade plus!

I've been quiet but figured I owed everyone an update!
I have still been going to births but also transitioned jobs at my current company and have been spending time with my kids and family!
My availability for 2024 is open starting in August as I've had so many inquiries for spring. Lots of repeats and friends having babies!

It's been a year and it's only August.

Lots of wonderful trips, partnerships, and new opportunities.

Continuing to adjust long term goals for doula work (ask my friends and family about how inconsistent I am with these 😆) and got this beautiful review at just the right time 🥰

I hired Heather for my second pregnancy & birth, and really wish I would have hired her for my first, as my husband agrees! She is knowledgable, down to earth, open, and honest. She was extremely quick to respond to any text/calls throughout pregnancy and labor. She is supportive of any decision and made sure we were educated and well equipped to make the decisions for us and our baby. Heather was my voice of reason when I was in labor and helped communicate my wishes to practicioners when they were trying to get me to do things that I did not want. My one regret is I didn't have Heather come sooner during labor! She also checked in on me post partum and connected me with resources and support for any questions/challenges I was having. Simply put, Heather is amazing and is the best investment for any mamas! We love Heather!

Still working through what the perfect work- life balance looks like and will continue to only take partnership births when possible. I am grateful to continue to have a full birth schedule and value every family we have been able to support!
