The Hennepin County Board of Commissioners approved $2 million to support selected Minnesota food banks, food shelves and food rescue organizations on November 6. These organizations are preparing for unprecedented demand for food, in part because of the interruption in SNAP benefits caused by the federal government shutdown.

In Hennepin County, approximately 110,000 residents rely on SNAP benefits, receiving an average of $180 a month.

📣 News Release: The Minnesota Department of Health has confirmed 10 new cases of measles in the Twin Cities metro area bringing the state’s total for the year to 18. Last night, the Orono City Council unanimously voted to update their city’s Commercial To***co Ordinance. These updates included:

- Updating language and definitions to match state law;
- Removing purchase, use, and possession penalties against youth; and
- Prohibiting sampling.

Congratulations to Orono for passing policy that will address the impact of commercial to***co!
