“Some individuals may perceive their losing fight with gravity as a sharp pain in their back, others as the unflattering contour of their body, others as constant fatigue, yet others as an unrelentingly threatening environment. Those over forty may call it old age.
And yet all these signals may be pointing to a single problem so prominent in their own structure, as well as others, that it has been ignored: they are off balance, they are at war with gravity.” ~Ida P. Rolf, Ph.D.

"It is of crucial importance that practitioners learn to relate to the inherent health of a system and not just it’s patterns of resistance.
There is an intelligence at work within the mind-body process. The practitioner, within this context, does not have to work out what to ‘do.’ The role of the practitioner is seen as assisting and facilitating this inherent healing intelligence.”

I somehow felt taller and lighter. On my daily walks, I noticed I was making much better time. I began paying attention to my posture and gait, and sure enough, the Rolfing had made me much more clearly vertical while walking or standing. This had the effect of lengthening my stride and minimizing the resistance of my torso 🚶🏼‍♂️ .
Soon I also noticed that my blood pressure was consistently lower, the result, it seemed, of a better respiration. The lengthening of my rib cage and my consequent straighter posture was allow me, literally to breathe easier. This, in turn, improved my quality of sleep. Before my personal posture project, I was given to awakening three or four times a night. Now I sleep at least six hours straight before awakening – something I attribute to improved breathing due to better posture 💆🏻‍♀️.

Practitioners of Rolfing SI do not feel ourselves to be therapists. The gravitational field is the therapist. What we do is prepare the body to receive the support from the gravitational field which gives a greater sense of well being. ~Ida P. Rolf, Ph.D.

Healing takes time. Our society is all about the ‘quick fixes' - the ‘give me a pill so my pain goes away’ mentality. This might work on a short term basis, but long term wellness asks for an investment of time, energy, and effort. It can feel like a lot of work, but it’s SO worth it!
Why? In addition to the luxury of feeling better, we are able to show up more fully for our relationships, our careers, and the things that we love to do.
The Rolfing Ten Series is one way that you could step into to your path of healing. The ten separate sessions are designed to systematically balance and optimize both posture and movement patterns by working with the entire body. Rather than operating from a symptom-based mindset, we work with clients to find long term ease in the way they stand, sit, and move in relationship to gravity.
Book a session and try it out!
Remember, the process of healing unfolds over an entire lifetime but nothing is more worth it than YOU and your beautiful body 🙏🏻🌸.

Tension in any area will have an effect throughout our whole fascial grid. If you are constantly sitting at your desk for example, you could get fascial bunching in your chest area - leading to a weakened upper back. Sitting for long periods of time can tighten your hip flexors, which can, if ignored, lead to fascial restriction of the hips. This can affect you right up to your neck and down to your toes and right into your core because our fascia is connected!

Fascia is the framework of our form. It’s a structure that organizes us into a shape that moves us through life.
Happy fascia is fluid. It’s springy and strong. When we run or walk, happy fascia will return the force we emit right back at us, making us feel lighter and softer.
We will need to use less energy to do things and our muscles and body will work less and move with greater efficiency. We will discover new strength and flexibility and space.

Rolfing asked my body to do something different, even against the considerable will of my lifelong bad habits. It demanded that I extend my back and neck in ways that I hadn’t ever before. I finally learned where ‘the top of my head’ was, and once I did, I found it hard to stand any other way.
🏃🏻‍♀️🚶🏼🕺
Of course, my posture didn’t become perfect overnight. Even after four Rolfing sessions, I can still catch myself in a store window or mirror doing a bad imitation of a turtle. But it won’t be for long - Rolfing has given the muscles that control my posture a new memory. Now when I catch myself doing a turtle, I know more or less how to right it.

At In|Form Rolfing, one of our focuses is to help those who’ve experienced trauma — physical, mental, emotional and sexual — to find healing. So often, that process involves giving voice to the trauma that’s been experienced. We’re grateful that has given this voice to so many. We hope that this greater voice brings with it an even greater opportunity for healing.
🌻🌻🌻
We are proud to offer Peter Levine’s Somatic Experiencing in addition to Advanced Rolfing and the Ten Series at In|Form Rolfing. It is our hope that these modalities can support those in need of working through past trauma. Through these offerings, we hope to provide guidance and support for those are walking on their own unique paths towards healing and wellness.

Unprocessed stress becomes traumatic memory that lies dormant in the body. A present day trigger can cause the stored memory to resurface. Understanding what is happening inside our body and brain, gives us compassion. Learning why our body responds the way it does, leads to awareness and empowerment. It moves us out of being isolated, fearful, victims. By caring for our bodies and understanding their self-protective responses, we can release shame.
✨🌸✨
The next time someone suggests it’s all in your head, you will have a different response. This knowledge empowers us to heal past wounds. Through acknowledging the power trauma plays in your life and understanding the mechanisms by which healing occurs, you can create a more embodied, joyful life.
