It was a joy for residents to watch Suzuki piano and guitar students perform! The Suzuki Method is built on the belief that every child can learn through patience, repetition, and encouragement, creating meaningful moments of connection across generations.

We had the joy of welcoming local movement artist and Abiitan’s favorite mime, Erin Landers, for an incredible morning! After her fascinating “Art of Mime: History & Techniques” presentation on the history and evolution of this expressive art form, Erin treated us to a captivating performance filled with whimsical, wordless stories where nothing is quite what it seems. Residents even got to try a few seated mime techniques of their own!

We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us for our recent remembrance service. Together, we honored the lives of ten residents who passed away in 2025, along with others who remain forever in our hearts.

With nearly 80 people in attendance, the gathering was a beautiful reflection of community, compassion, and connection. Thank you Ecumen Hospice, to our team members, families, and friends who helped make this service meaningful — and to all who continue to support and uplift one another at Abiitan.

This week at Abiitan Mill City - An Ecumen Living Space, we gathered as a community to celebrate and remember the lives of ten residents who passed away in 2025, along with others who remain close in our hearts.

Led by our team — Becca Munoz (Assistant Executive Director), Jennine Speier (Pianist), Joel Sund (Manager of Spiritual Care, Ecumen), Cheryl Locke (Executive Director), Brandyn Liebe (Senior Living Consultant), and Tommaso Cammarano (Life Enrichment Manager) — the service carried the message “BitterSweet,” reflecting on “A time to live and a time to die.”

With about 80 people in attendance, it was a meaningful time of remembrance, connection, and love.

Our resident art wall has been updated to feature three of Scotty's newest rugs are now on display for all of Abiitan and visitors to admire.

Scotty has been passionately hooking rugs for 30 years and still meets every Tuesday morning at the Textile Center to create alongside her fellow textile artists. In 2010, the Textile Center hosted a solo exhibit of her work, and now, in 2025/2026, we at Abiitan are lucky enough to enjoy her latest creations for a few months.
