If there is a great high school gym coach named Jim Bob Joe, my kindest regards.

Part 2 - progressing from the deadhang to Scapular Pull Ups 😍

Cues - pull up on the bar without bending your elbows, and with control come back down. It's not meant to be the biggest range of motion.

You're "simply" strengthening the stabilizer muscles in your shoulder blades (Scapula).

So lovely for improving overhead mobility & correcting posture, too✨️

I'm starting another Small Group Strength Training cohort in South Minneapolis - link in bio to join the interest list!

Cheers to your strength 🏋🏻‍♀️🫁🫀🧠🎉

There is a whole phenomenal world of education on how to exercise more consistently and develop a healthy relationship with exercise (one of my specialty topics I speak on),

but before those mindset shifts and tangible actions are taught, it's important to know that some things are hard, like working out.

It doesn't mean you shouldn't do it or go after something that will improve your quality of life.

*And* it means lessening the shame that tells you it should be easy.

Cheers to your strength y'all✨️

I currently have 1 spot open for in-person training and 2 spots opening in Aprl for *online* training (so long as you're located on Planet Earth, you can join). Link in bio🫶

The truth (and science) about glute gains👇🏼

First, let it be known that in my practice, we don't focus on intentional , too or body composition change.

It doesn't mean someone can't have those goals, nor will they ever be shamed for them.

It means we recognize and celebrate all body types, sizes, abilities, and disabilities.

Second, I love talking about muscle growth & strength adaptations.

You can be weight inclusive and still geek out on muscle science🤓

This is a complex topic, but I want to clarify it for you, especially regarding a hot topic such as "glute gains":

you can grow stronger without looking much different physically.

This is another reason why I don't focus on body composition: while all my clients build muscle mass (hypertrophy*) and increase their strength, not all these gains are highly visible.

To clarify, hypertrophy is the increase in size of muscle fibers.

And building strength means increasing the force you can produce (heavy s**t you can lift) and strengthening neuromuscular adaptations.

In my practice, we do utilize BOTH because ultimately, both will help you gain strength; larger muscles (hypertrophy) can help you lift heavier weight (more force production).

✨️Summary: You can gain strength, grow your muscle size and not have glutes that look like your "favorite fitness influencers"

(aside from training adaptations, genetics ‼️ play a huge role into how one gains muscle / what visibly shows, too.

✨️✨️Summary #2: We

Move for community mutual aid class last Saturday was wonderful - thank you to everyone who came out and to those who donated even though they couldn't attend.

Collectively, you all raised over $900 - Zeynep and I have decided to put that money directly towards a vulnerable family needing rent assistance.

And thank you, for lending us the space to host - I'm thankful I get to bring my clients in here every day.

This June marks my 10th year since moving to Minnesota, specifically Minneapolis.

I couldn't be prouder to call this place home. Modern citizens are truly doing the heavy lifting right now to help our immigrant neighbors.

ICE isn't fully gone - they are still causing harm, and even when they "leave," the impacts will be long-lasting. We will continue to look out for each other.

Lastly, please don't forget to support us small business owners in Minneapolis and the surrounding areas.

Zeynep & I are women-owned small businesses that are inclusive + welcoming, backed in science, and here is my bias: hot damn we are fun.

We've got your back when it comes to wellness.

let's continue forward - looking out & speaking up✨️

Leave our immigrant neighbors alone - ICE OUT. Resources to help below👇🏼

I want to say this as someone with diagnosed generalized anxiety disorder, the best my mental health has felt in weeks was volunteering at a food drive this morning (be around those who value what you do - log off ) before finding out Alex Pretti was killed, another citizen murdered by ICE.

We must keep going. But this involves rest and knowing when to log off (compassionately parenting yourself) so you don't freeze in fear. Find a way to be invovled (resources below) and stay safe.

I love you, Minneapolis. Thank you, our immigrant neighbors, for making this place home.

Our Story

Hello! My name is Allison Mosso and I am a Certified Intuitive Eating & Body Image Counselor, NASM Certified Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor and Wellness Presenter. I have earned my Master of Science in Kinesiology and Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a Minor in Nutrition.

I create my programs based on my background in science and my personal experiences. I care about the quality of someone's life more than external factors. Everyone has unique needs so I believe in individualized programs that allow you to become the master of your own body. This is done through a non-restrictive and weight- inclusive approach that includes education on intuitive eating tools, balancing of foods and macronutrients, finding satisfaction (in food and life) and nourishment. My website, mossonutritionandfitness.com, is where you will find access to one-on-one coaching, blogs on health and wellness, links to my favorite professionals, and other informational resources. I can’t wait to be a part of your journey!
