This week is Lab Week at Indian Health Board! IHB is proud to provide lab services for our primary care clinic, meaning important blood screenings , such as Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c or A1c) tests can be completed at your appointment.

We wanted to give a shout out to our Lab team, and will check in with them during the week for their tabling event where you can "measure" their success for yourself!

Did you know?
HPV now accounts for approximately 70% of oropharyngeal cancers, and vaccination could prevent over 90% of HPV-related cancers.
Since the mid-2000s, incidence rates for oropharyngeal cancers have increased by about 1% per year, mostly because of a rise in cancers linked with human papillomavirus (HPV) infection.

Our Elder Group relatives worked on rattles this week to bring good medicine into our building. You can see here the work from pulling the elk rawhide out of the bucket, to filling them with sand, lacing them up with sinew, and attaching them to the willow branch handles. The results are looking good and sounding good, aho!

Thanks to Freddie and Dancina with Indigenous Services, and to Tish for bringing the activity to the group.
