Grief doesn’t cancel out gratitude, and gratitude doesn’t erase grief.

Instead, they can coexist, each giving texture to the other. Feeling grief deeply can make your moments of gratitude sharper, more vivid. And holding gratitude, even in small ways, can give your grief a gentle anchor. A reminder that even in pain, life contains sparks of beauty.

In class, it might mean letting go of the need for your posture to look or feel a specific way. Off the mat, it’s an invitation to hold things loosely.

Release comparison, choose presence over pressure, and trust that what’s meant for you doesn’t require force.
