I've been so busy with vendor fairs and making art kits that I haven't focused on my own art. During a guided meditation, I discovered my spirit animal is a polar bear and I've been wanting to paint it since last summer! Finally I was able to set some time aside for the last two days to create.

During my painting class on Friday, I heard people make comments like "I wish mine turned out like that person's." Which led me to share a story of when I first started painting. I never had an intention to go be an artist - I just signed up for an art class with a friend 20ish years ago. The instructor didn't really teach anything, it was more like a drop in art space. So I picked up magazines and painted what I saw.

The instructor told me I had a good eye for color - but that's all they said. So I continued to copy others art styles. I wanted to be "like them".

However, in the last two or three years now, I've been listening to my heart and finding "my style." Painting has become transforming, creative, and enjoyable again.

I love teaching others during painting classes! But I always remind people that goal isn't to look just like mine - but the goal is to create one just like theirs.
