🌊Search Water First

When autistic children go missing, they are most often found in or near bodies of water and within half a mile of where they were last seen (Anderson et al., 2012).

For autistic children who wander, nearby ponds, lakes, waterlines, pools, drainage ditches, fountains, and creeks can become urgent search priorities.

Try learning 3-5 water areas within half a mile of where you spend most of your time (home, school, therapy, transitional moments).

I decided to reframe how to address water safety. I entered the ABA field knowing I wanted to bridge both worlds of ABA and aquatics, but you don’t learn how to be an entrepreneur in your BCBA classes.

Launching Blended Aquatics in 2022 was my baby, and a long journey to get to that point. During that time, we were only teaching adaptive swim lessons- which had my heart but knew wasn’t sustainable. Barrier after barrier from behaviors to limited resources showed us we could quit, just survive or reframe our impact.

In the fall of 2026, we redesigned our business model to support the overlooked risky behaviors that behavior analysts see on the daily that can lead to drowning. Our goal is to build a community of behavior analysts who are equipped, confident, and connected around water safety.
