Ken Haglind, CEO of Hospice Minnesota, let me spend half of our interview on his radio show Living Healthy and Aging Well last Saturday encouraging people to join the music therapy profession.

This was my second 43 minute interview on the show advocating for music therapy. Please feel free to share! The first interview is linked in the show notes.

The interview is also found on Spotify, Apple Music and other platforms under Living Healthy and Aging Well .

If you know of people who are musicians, love working with people, and want to help people empower themselves, encourage them to check out music therapy as a career option!

Compassion, patience, creativity, imagination, an openness to new ideas, and understanding of oneself are also important attributes for people in these positions.

Please take a moment to watch the full story on 60 minutes. Remember DEI is not just about people of color, it also supports veterans, military families, pregnant women, single parents, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+, people of various faiths, the elderly, the young, women, parents, white men… the list goes on and on.

It’s not about elevating people who “don’t have skills” but making sure that EVERYONE is able to live with dignity, respect, and belonging.

DEI makes it possible for your parents and grandparents to be able to watch a show with closed captions or with a headset, it makes it possible for parents with young children to be able to get their strollers over curb cuts, it makes it so their is support for your low income friends, neighbors, and family to get support in food availability and subsidies for sports…

Eliminating all DEI hurts EVERYONE!! It is disgraceful, inhumane, and disgusting. Until people treat ALL humans with dignity, respect, and belonging and EVERYONE is truly included and has access to a baseline quality of life Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion must exist.

Remember there is much more to a person that we can see at first sight.

Powerful visual! I was 4 of these all at once . . . and then some! Beyond grateful for teachers who were loving and kind even though unaware of the horrors happening in my life. They made a huge impact in my resilience.
