Red Door

Red Door provides sexual health care for all people. We never turn away based on ability to pay. We’ve provided specialized care ever since.

Red Door opened in 1970, in response to an increasing number of emergency room visits for sexual health care. Today Red Door is the largest HIV and STD clinic in Minnesota and a landmark for health care services in Hennepin County. We were among the first clinics in Minnesota to offer PrEP, a daily pill that helps protect against HIV infection, and we continue to offer the newest and best testing and treatments. Our HIV prevention program received a national award from the National Association of County and City Health Officials. Clinics nationwide look to Red Door for our expertise and best practices.

Hope and collaboration were strong themes at the 2025 World AIDS Day event, where county staff, residents, and community partners gathered to discuss local HIV strategy.

County staff and community partners shared about their HIV care and prevention work, including outreach, clinical care, harm reduction, case management, health education, HIV care navigation, mental health services, and more.

OutLoud!, an ensemble of Twin Cities Gay Men's Chorus, closed out the event with an inspiring choral performance that earned a standing ovation.

Thank you to our partners The Aliveness Project, Hennepin Healthcare, and Sub-Saharan African Youth and Family Services in MN for presenting on our community partner panel.

The event left us feeling inspired and energized! Thank you to those who attended and to all partners and residents building impactful HIV strategy in our communities.

Today is World AIDS Day! It is a day to celebrate the lives of those impacted by HIV. It is an opportunity to look back at how far we've come. It is a chance to reflect on challenges to HIV care and prevention, and an invitation to build connections that help face those challenges. Join us in recognizing World AIDS Day!

As always, we're here for you. We provide education, testing, treatment, and referrals to HIV care. Call or walk-in to our clinic during regular hours. We'd love to see you!

TMVII (said like "TM seven") is in communities across the U.S., including in the Twin Cities. Knowing the symptoms is important for prevention!

TMVII can look like ringworm and may be on your p***s, v***a, butt, a**s, legs, trunk, or face. It might be ring-shaped or slightly raised; red, pink, or purple; itchy and painful; blistered or scaly.

If you have a rash, come to our clinic or see your health care provider as soon as possible for testing. Until your appointment, avoid close contact with others, do not use lotions or ointments on the rash, and keep the rash covered.
