"I'm just carrying a bag of groceries." She said when I asked if I could gather them for a quick picture as they were heading out after class.
Oh but it's so much more than that... ❤️ It wasn't about the photo, it's about what it represents. Doing what we can when and where we can.
It's choosing action over apathy.
Enacting community care, even if seen as small, rather than saying 'I can't make a difference' or 'someone else will help'.
In these times when the needs are enormous, it's so important to continue to do the best we can with the resources that are available to us- using our time, money, resources, transportation, creativity, voice, and presence.
After this morning's class, community happened-
Stories were shared about how we're showing up and balancing that with caring for ourselves and family, about those in our lives that are hurting and afraid, and about how we can continue to come together.
There were hugs and laughs... Some levity in a dark time. And there was working together to get these donations to where they were needed.
We are still collecting donations of food in the lobby for Sabathani. Please feel free to bring food along to class or visit their website to donate directly. Thank you for being a part of this work, on the mat and off.
"Grateful for spaces, places, and people like these."
