CATNIP - REPELS MOSQUITOS (Beloved by cats)
We often say that the mosquito is the unofficial Minnesota state bird – (we're sure many in other states have that same philosophy) – so mosquito control is as important as ever. WELL - Good News from "Science Daily" about catnip’s mosquito repellent compound:

"Researchers report that nepetalactone, the essential oil in catnip that gives the plant its characteristic odor, is about ten times more effective at repelling mosquitoes than DEET — the compound used in most commercial insect repellents."

DIY - CATNIP MOSQUITO REPELLANT

>>>>Using Essential Oil
•Fill spray bottle (8 ounce) 1/2 full with distilled or boiled water
•Add witch hazel to fill almost to the top
•Add 1/2 tsp vegetable glycerin (optional)if using
•Add 30-50 drops of CATNIP essential oil -- other oils such as
Lavender, Rosemary, Citronella, Clove, Lemongrass, Tea Tree, Cajeput, Eucalyptus, Cedar, Mint - can be blended with the catnip to create your own unique scent.

>>>>Using Fresh or Dried Herbs
•Distilled water
•Witch hazel or rubbing alcohol
•Dried herbs: CATNIP - other possible herbs: lavender, peppermint, spearmint, citronella, lemongrass,

Boil 1 cup of water and add 3-4 TBSP of dried herbs total in any combination from the above. I use 1 TBSP each of peppermint, spearmint, catnip and lavender, and also throw in a couple of dried cloves.
Mix well, cover and let cool (covering is important to keep the volatile oils in!)
Strain herbs out and mix water with 1 cup of witch hazel or rubbing alcohol. Store in a spray bottle in a cool place (fridge is great because then its nice and cool!)
Use as needed.

HealingHands~HealingHearts is a service provided by Donna Lindsay-Goodwin whose mission is: "Assisting you in your awakening to, and deepening of, YOUR connectedness to Spirit Within".

My work is about Spirituality, Healing and Wholeness. It is about working with individuals, groups and businesses who, like me, are journeying on a path toward Higher Consciousness. It is about working with others who are striving to live and work with commitment, consciousness, passion, creativity and aliveness.

My work is about being of service to those who are journeying through healing on all levels, Body, Mind and Spirit. I do this through Herbal Medicine, through the creation of my Medicine Bags, Dreamcatchers, Shields and through being an Officiant of Sacred Ceremonies, a Spiritual Counselor and Facilitator. Being in this work is my greatest joy! It is the work I am called to do and bringing this work into the world is truly my heart’s desire
