1928 indian Scout 101 Motorcycle

The Indian 101 Scout is remembered by many as the greatest motorcycle that Indian ever made. It was developed by Charles B. Franklin – an Irish-born American immigrant who had also designed the previous Scout, and who earlier in his career had been part of the Indian Motorcycle racing team that won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the 1911 Isle of Man Tourist Trophy – finishing in 2nd place himself.

When Charles designed the 101 Scout he incorporated much of his own racing experience, resulting in a lower seat height, increased rake and a slightly longer wheelbase. Typically the new Indian Scout 101 was fitted with the newer 45 cubic inch (740cc) flat-head V-twin engine, but it could also be ordered with the same 37 cubic inch (610cc) engine from the previous Scout model – although this was rather uncommon.

Rather than using a more traditional chain primary drive, the 101 used a helical gear primary to improve reliability and reduce maintenance requirements. This coupled with the new lower centre of gravity, larger engine and improved handling of Indian’s new Scout saw it rapidly become the most successful racing motorcycle in the USA at the time.

Both amateur and professional racers modified their Indians to race on early flat tracks, road races, hill climbs, cross country races and in sideshow attractions like the Wall of Death. To this day, almost 100 years after the first 101 Scout was made, the model is still a common sight in the surviving Wall of Death shows – a testament to the toughness of the original design.

Find out which “healthy” foods are actually undoing all your hard work.

Believe it or not, descriptions like “natural” or “fat free” indicate nothing about a food’s nutritional value. As consumers, simply being more aware of the ingredients in the foods we’re eating can help us avoid foods we mistake for healthy. Don’t get duped by seemingly “healthy” foods. Here are seven foods you should consider removing from your diet, and some alternatives.
1. Wraps
Don’t think tortillas and wraps are healthier because the bread is thinner. Shells contain more calories than you think and have a large surface area that holds more fillers than most bread. Some wraps have the equivalent carbohydrates and fat to three slices of buttered bread spread.
Substitution: The occasional sandwich is fine. If you do opt for a wrap, make sure it’s filled with healthy veggies and low-fat proteins.
2. Fruit Smoothies
Pay attention to the ingredients in smoothies. They should only contain the basics: Fresh fruit, ice and 100 percent juice. Many stores will load in extras like ice cream, sugar and sweetened fruit.
Substitution: Stick with the basics. The best option is to use fresh ingredients and make your own.
3. Yogurt
Yogurts are full of calcium so they should be good for you, right? It depends on what type. Some varieties are healthier than the others. Avoid yogurts topped with granola or crushed cookies, as well as children’s yogurts with outlandish, quirky flavors and colors.
Substitution: Opt for Greek-style yogurts. They’re higher in protein, lower in sugar and they’ll keep you full longer.
4. Granola
Granola has the reputation for being natural and healthy, but unless they’re made with whole grain granola, chances are they’re high in sugar and not filling.
Substitution: Pick granola bars and cereals that are high in fiber and whole grain, as they will keep you fuller longer.
5. Café-style Coffee or Tea
Added toppings, like whipped cream and caramel, welcome loads of calories and fat to your coffee or tea. Opt for the sugar-free syrups or make your own fresh brew at home without the topping temptations.
Substitution: Opt for the sugar-free syrups or make your own fresh brew at home without the topping temptations.

Looking for ways to reduce stress? These relaxation techniques will have you finding relief in no time.
We all get stressed out sometimes, but if it feels like stress seems to rule your days, it’s time to do something about it
Why is reducing stress so important? Because stress isn’t just problematic in the moment — it’s a real health risk. The more stress, the more likely you will suffer physical ailments, from migraines to belly fat. Or even a heart attack. But before you get even more anxious about the long-term effects of chronic stress, try these several tried and true stress-reduction and relaxation techniques.
1. Breathe
Yes, breathing is second nature, but during stressful times, that’s often not the case. Under a cloud of worry, many people hold their breath or have shallow breath, or tense up so much that it’s actually difficult to inhale adequate oxygen. So the first way to turn your stress level down a few notches is to focus on your breathing. Sitting up, close your eyes and inhale and exhale, nice and easy, then repeat 10 times. Or, lie down, place a pillow under your knees, and put your hand on your belly to feel your breath rise and fall. You can say the words “rising” and “falling” in your head as you take in and release your breath.
2. Eat Chocolate
Having a bad day? A piece of dark chocolate might be just the nibble you need to brighten your outlook and reduce stress. In fact, a daily dose of dark chocolate (70 percent cacao or higher) is a proven antidote to stress (Plus, it can lower your risk of stroke, diabetes and heart disease.). Cocoa beans are rich in flavonoids, an antioxidant, which counteract the anxiety-producing hormone, cortisol. If possible, opt for brands that offer the purest form, preferably organic and made from “single estate” or “single origin” beans. (Sorry, milk chocolate doesn’t count.)
3. Reach for Soothing Scents
To calm those nerves in an instant, try inhaling aromas from bergamot, lavender or peppermint oils. Have a tension headache? Put one drop of lavender oil on your fingertips and massage your temples. To get the scent to permeate the room, add a few drops of essential oil to an unscented candle and light it. Not only will your space smell heavenly, this relaxation technique will calm your spirit in no time.
4. Take a Bath
Since ancient times, hydrotherapy has been practiced for its healing and restorative powers. To make your tub-time extra therapeutic, sprinkle in a handful of bath salts, turn down the lights, turn on some relaxing music and light an aromatherapy candle.
7. Apply Pressure
Stress can cause some serious aches and pains. To manage these physical ailments, try acupressure — a Chinese therapy in which pressure is applied to the meridians, or channels, in your body. It is believed these channels connect your organs, and, when one is blocked, can result in pain or illness. To alleviate the discomfort of a headache, apply your index and middle finger to your wrist, at the base of your palm in line with your pinky finger and hold firmly for 30 seconds. Repeat on the other wrist. Similarly, you can try the point between your big toe and the second toe. Try it — it works!

Black garlic
Welcome to a whole new world of flavor.
Introducing a simple food with a wonderfully complex flavor. Black garlic is sweet meets savory, a perfect mix of molasses-like richness and tangy garlic undertones. It has a tender, almost jelly-like texture with a melt-in-your-mouth consistency similar to a soft dried fruit. Hard to believe, but true. It’s as delicious as it is unique.
It’s Healthy
In Taoism mythology, black garlic was rumored to grant immortality. We can’t promise you that, but there’s no doubt that black garlic is great for your health—it’s loaded with nearly twice as many antioxidants as raw garlic. It also contains S-Ally cysteine, which is fancy talk for a natural compound that has been proven to be a factor in cancer prevention.
Food
Black garlic is a type of caramelized garlic used as a food ingredient in Asian cuisine. It is made by heating whole bulbs of garlic over the course of several weeks, a process that results in black cloves
Ingredients: Fermented American Garlic
Taste and Aroma: Complex and rich flavor. Perfect combination of sweet and savory with tangy garlic undertones.
Please Note: The consistency of black garlic is slightly mushy, similar to soft dried fruit.
Uses: Anywhere you would use traditional garlic! Black Garlic adds complexity and deep rich flavor to every dish and lacks the pungent odor of traditional garlic!
Fun Fact: Black Garlic contains twice as many antioxidants as traditional raw garlic!
