Is it possible to breastfeed your baby after undergoing a breast reduction? Short answer: maybe! Just as every pregnancy is different, so too is your breastfeeding journey…especially after a reduction. Most providers will likely suggest a person wait until they have completed their childbearing journey before pursuing a reduction in order to maintain the maximum amount of tissue and avoid reducing milk glands. However, benefits such a decrease in chronic neck, back, and shoulder pain and improved quality of life are incredibly important. Ultimately, talk with your provider to see what makes the most sense to you. And remember, a reduction does not mean breastfeeding is impossible! Working with lactation consultants and educators is one way to improve your chances of success.

Hey,
If you’re still here, I’m very grateful. Yes, I am still very much a doula, albeit a little different these days. I’ll explain more about how my birth work “works” these days as I post more often. For now, here’s a small reflection on motherhood. Carry and wear your babies for as long as they’ll let you! 😭
During pregnancy one of the first sounds a fetus learns to recognize is their mother’s heartbeat. At 4 years old, my baby rests her head against my chest where beneath is same heart that skipped a beat the moment I learned I was pregnant with her. I pray someday that she, and her little brother, realize that they are, and have always been, the reason my heart beats. How blessed am I to feel my heart beat outside my body?

Hi there! Thank you so much for taking the time to learn more and Crowning Glory Birth Company, and me, Ashley Kidd-Tatge.
Crowning Glory serves all women and families in the Twin Cities metro area in all settings: hospitals, birth centers, and homes. As the owner, I truly believe that pregnancy, birth, and family life with a new baby are beautiful and sacred experiences. Unfortunately, too many women are uninformed, unsupported, and unappreciated when it comes to this incredible time in her life. That’s where I come in.
As a doula, birth educator, and placenta encapsulator, I will support you (and your partner) physically, mentally, and emotionally through the journey of birth. I will get to know you (and your partner) well before you’ve entered into labor so we are comfortable together and build trust. Whether you desire a natural birth, a medicated birth, or something in between, I meet your needs and am a guide throughout your journey. While I can’t promise that your birth will go exactly to plan, I can promise that you’ll never be alone.
All women (single, married, or otherwise) and all families (LGBTQ, multi-racial, hetero, and otherwise) deserve to know their choices around birth with full confidence and awareness. Even when unexpected medical interventions are needed or plans don’t go as expected, your birth can still be YOURS.
My passion for birth began early, but my most formative birth experience happened at age fourteen. My older brother and his wife as they were expecting their second child. They knew my passion for birth and invited me to be present at the time of their birth. I was humbled and ecstatic. I learned so much being in the room watching my sister-in-law’s labor. It was so inspirational to see an uninterrupted, natural birth. I supported my brother and sister-in-law in ways I never thought I could. This grew my passion and love for the entire birth experience that much more.
Aside from birth, I have 15+ years of nannying and babysitting experience and have been featured on Care.com as a top caregiver in the state. I have a loving husband, selfless parents, 3 hilarious siblings, and 3 gorgeous nieces.
I hope that after reading this, you get an idea of what Crowning Glory Birth Co. is about and who I am. I look forward to the opportunity to support you and your family during this precious time in your life.
