Stop. Scan for Scam.

There has been an increase in phishing and scam emails targeting our members. These fraudulent emails may appear to come from APT or APT State Branches, but please be aware that APT and its branches will NEVER ask for or offer the following:

Requests like "Is this moment a good one for you to have a discussion about 'branch name'?"

Financial or personal account information

Purchases of gift cards for any occasion

Wire transfers or other forms of direct money transfers

Offers to sell member mailing lists or conference attendee lists

Scammers are becoming more sophisticated, often mirroring emails to look like they are coming from APT staff, Branch Presidents, or Branch Board Members. They may use familiar names and even replicate signature blocks to make the emails appear legitimate. However, they typically alter one or two characters in the email address or make subtle changes that may go unnoticed at first glance.

Graduate students, are you planning on obtaining the Registered Play Therapist™ (RPT) or School Based-Registered Play Therapist™ (SB-RPT) credential? Then consider applying for the Charles Schaefer Play Therapy Scholarship. Sponsored by the Foundation for Play Therapy, the scholarship was established in 2021 to honor the late Charles E. Schaefer, PhD, RPT-S, co-founder of the Association for Play Therapy, the first RPT-S, and Professor Emeritus of Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University (conferred in 2008).

The scholarship, valued at $5,000, will be distributed over a three-year period, and administered by the Association for Play Therapy. Only applicants that meet criteria and submit their application by the June 30, 2025 at 5:00pm deadline will be considered.
