The Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Minnesota is a large subspecialty oriented neurosurgical practice that provides the highest quality of neurosurgical care for the most complex of neurosurgical diseases. The department primarily serves patients in the greater Twin Cities area, the State of Minnesota, and surrounding region. The neurosurgeons within the department have come from a

Fellowship trained and active nationally and internationally in research and organized neurosurgery, many are regarded as leaders in their field. The neurosurgical training program in the department is one of the oldest in the country and for years has trained neurosurgeons highly regarded for their surgical skills. This month, University of Minnesota Neurosurgery held a departmental food drive. 144 pounds of non-perishables were donated to the VEAP food pantry with the mission of supporting community through food!

We are honored to have welcomed Dr. Douglas Kondziolka as our 2025 Haines Family Lecturer.

Dr. Kondziolka is a professor of Neurosurgery and Radiation Oncology at New York University, the Vice-Chair of Clinical Research in Neurosurgery, and Director of Center for Advanced Radiosurgery.

Dr. Kondziolka gave our Departmental Grand Rounds Friday Morning "My Path through Leadership in Neurosurgery: Lessons Learned" followed by the evening Lectureship "Artificial Intelligence for Neurosurgical Intelligence".
