A beautiful tribute from one of our nurses, Michelle, on Dr. Zera's last day in Clinic -
"There was laughter, there were tears ( thus my eyes 😳😭 ), but oh SO much love !! It’s the end of an era as Dr.Rick Zera is retiring and today was his last clinic ! We have worked closely in clinic together for 30 years ! He is the best of the best and I ( actually ALL of us in clinic ) have been blessed beyond measure to work with someone of his caliber, expertise, compassion, and sense of humor . He will be greatly missed ! 🤗♥️
Whenever one of our cancer patients completes a milestone in their care, they ring our bell 3 times . It was only fitting that Rick did the same!
You rock , Dr. Z !! Dr. Madans , Dr. Deisler, and Sara Tsantes will do an awesome job in your absence. 🙂"

Surrounded by friends, colleagues and her family, our Margaret Udo, RN had her Breast Cancer Superhero Portrait Project unveiled today in our Clinic & Specialty Center. Margaret’s courage, bravery and resilience as she faced and conquered breast cancer (triple-negative, stage 2) inspired so many of us. She chose to have her portrait painted as Shuri - King T’Challa’s sister from the movie Black Panther. One of our patients was featured in an article with the Pioneer Press today - https://www.twincities.com/2024/06/27/st-paul-nurse-breast-cancer-survivor-recognized-with-portrait-at-hcmc/

Surrounded by family, registered nurse Margaret Udo, front left, a breast cancer patient and survivor, reacts as her Breast Cancer Superhero Portrait Project painting is revealed at Hennepin County Medical Center Clinic and Specialty Center in Minneapolis on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.
Udo, a nurse with HCMC originally from Nigeria, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022. She chose her portrait to be done in the style of the superhero Shuri, a character from comics books published by Marvel Comics, which was painted by guest artist Geno Okok, a muralist/portrait painter who is also from Nigeria.
