ACTION NEEDED!! Hello birth center supporters. Please take action for the future of birth centers in Minnesota!!
The bill was heard and passed in the MN Senate Health and Human Services Committee and included in the final Senate Health Omnibus bill (SF2669 Wiklund). However, it was not included in the House Health Omnibus bill (HF2435 Bierman). Here is where we need your help -- we need to let our legislators know that this proposal is crucial for the birth center community and maternal health in Minnesota!

Thank you so much to all who attended Willow’s Farewell Open House today. There was so much love, laughter, memories, tears, and reflection. As I sit here reflecting on the day, it feels so good to know what a positive impact Willow made on so many people’s lives. Many people mentioned they now feel empowered in various ways but especially in now being able to advocate for themselves in a whole new way. Thank you to all the families who came to Willow and allowed us on this journey with you. You are all so powerful in your own special way. Thank you to all the Willow employees past and present whether you came today or not. You have all made an impact in so many lives. Thank you to the community birth workers who came to support and say their goodbyes to the space. You are all such incredible humans. And last of all, thank you to all the Willow babies who we got to see today!! The oldest Willow baby I met today was 8 years old and the youngest a few days old. We love all our Willow babies and hope you all flourish and change the world for the better.

We welcome you to join us for our Community Farewell Open House on Saturday, January 4th. Willow families, birth workers, community members please feel free to stop by 10am-2pm to visit the Willow space one last time, share memories with others, and visit with some of our team.

From Midwife Sasha 💜 I moved to Minnesota looking for a group practice and happened upon Willow after a couple of years of being here. Group practice, after being a solo practice midwife, has been a wonderful way to find balance while doing what I love. I've met some pretty amazing people—coworkers and clients—that I know I'll cherish much of the time I have shared here, forever.

Beginning January '25, you'll be able to find me at the 's Midwifery Clinic in SE. We will be offering full service home birth care and prenatal & postpartum only care for those needing or wanting to birth in the hospital with midwives.

Willow Midwives is proud to announce we were awarded an ACNM Best Practice for achieving the 4 Core in 2023! Several other MN birth centers have also been recognized for this distinction. Birth centers are essential community providers and important options for birthing families. The “4 Core” Best Practice designation has been designed to acknowledge practices achieving nationally established benchmarks for physiologic birth. These four measures are harmonized with the National Quality Forum (NQF) and Joint Commission perinatal quality measures. These measures are:

Today was the last Willow Cafe at Willow. This is a bittersweet day but not the last day for this group… Midwife Krista is going to continue on the group at Twin Cities Midwifery and it will be called Willow Leaf!! From our Midwife Krista 💜 I will never forget walking into Willow on my first day to find Hanna's sweet smile and her bright "welcome to Willow!" waiting for me. And that loving welcome remains the heart of Willow for me. We have created a family, with each other and with the families we serve and that's something that will stay with all of us after Willow closes. Although I love birth, my greatest joy at Willow has been watching the little ones we welcome into the world grow and change each week at Willow Cafe. We celebrate every milestone and joy and come together for each other through the hardships. Working with the families in Willow Cafe helped solidify my dream of incorporating psych mental health into my practice and I returned to graduate school this year.

After Willow closes, I will be joining forces with to continue offering the same postpartum support group families have known with Willow Cafe. Once I graduate with my psych mental health nurse practitioner degree in the summer of 2025, I will be incorporating mental health support from a midwifery mindset into my current practice. I look forward to continuing to support families in the new year and the new iterations of each of our journeys.
