Check out our Physician Assistant, Meghan McCoy, as she hosted one of the newest episodes from the Healthy Matters Podcast with one of Hennepin Healthcare's pediatricians, Dr. Subrahmanian. The episode covers common kids illnesses and treatments and is a must listen for parents. We're lucky to have Meghan as part of our team in the ENT clinic!

Did you know some of our Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) providers see patient's at Hennepin Healthcare's Brooklyn Park clinic? The clinic is located on 7650 Zane Avenue N, Brooklyn Park 55443.

Depending on the reason for your visit to our clinic you may be able to be seen at the Brooklyn Park clinic instead of the downtown Minneapolis Clinic & Specialty Center.

Last Friday some of our ENT and Audiology staff enjoyed getting together after work for dinner and mini golf at the Puttery in Minneapolis. It's always nice for our team to enjoy time outside the clinic together!

May is National Speech-Language-Hearing Month!

If the answer to any of the questions below is "yes" or even "sometimes" it would be worthwhile to get your hearing tested.

Our licensed audiologists at Hennepin Healthcare complete comprehensive assessments of hearing. They will make proper recommendations based on the results and what is best for you to address your hearing concerns.

Beginning in January we welcomed Alan Johnson, MD, MS as one of our Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) providers at Hennepin. Dr. Johnson attended medical school at the University of Minnesota and has experience working at Hennepin Healthcare during his residency.

Dr. Johnson's special interests include facial trauma & reconstruction, skin cancer surgery, ear surgery including bone-conduction hearing aids, thyroid & parathyroid surgery, facial plastic surgery including functional rhinoplasty, and voice restoration. He also has an active role in teaching University of Minnesota Otolaryngology residents and medical students.

We are grateful to have Dr. Johnson as part of our Ear, Nose and Throat team at Hennepin!

“I’ve enjoyed meeting people from around the world at Hennepin Healthcare. Over my 25 years here, I’ve seen changes in where some of our patients come from. It’s almost like a geography lesson. Let’s say a patient on my schedule needs an interpreter. I’ll look to see what language, and sometimes it’s one I’m not familiar with. I’ll look it up to see where the language is spoken. I think our patients appreciate the care they receive. In some cases, patients tell me this is the only place they can go, and I like being one part of the place they receive care. I also like being in the place that some patients choose – they know our reputation for excellent care.

Hearing loss can be exhausting. When you can’t hear well, you have to focus so hard throughout the day to follow the things we take for granted. People sometimes get emotional when they can suddenly hear their family members without as much effort. Newer hearing aids can be paired with smartphones. To test this, we call them, and they can hear well on the phone for the first time in a while, or ever – some will cry happy tears. Hearing loss makes people not want to talk on the phone or avoid other difficult situations. It’s rewarding to connect people with their families and make communication easier.”
