Read more below for this weeks research spotlight!

What is exercise satiation?

Satiation is the feeling of being satisfied, or content after having enough of something, especially when it comes to fulfilling biological needs or desires.
Conceptualizing exercise in the context of satiation allows us to view exercise similarly to other biological drives such as eating . Exercise satiation could help unpack why people have such a different relationships to exercise.

What is problematic exercise?

Problematic exercise (exercise associated with distress, social impairment, or physical problems) is one of many behaviors used to compensate for caloric intake and is linked with eating disorder symptoms. During this form of exercise, rather than following internal cues, people may follow outside recommendations about exercise duration.

How can exercise satiation research help with problematic exercise?

Following future research avenues of exercise satiation may aid in the understanding and treatment of problematic exercise that could increase the efficacy of interventions to reduce these behaviors.
