Free Webinar: Cyndi's List in Practice
Monday May 19, 2025 at 6:30 pm CST
Cyndi's List is the ultimate one-stop source for finding just about everything genealogy related on the internet, and we have THE actual Cyndi Ingle, creator of Cyndi's List, speaking for our May program!! This website is absolutely a must for genealogists, but because it is so vast and contains so many resources, it can seem a bit overwhelming to beginners and is sometimes underused by veterans, Cyndi's List is a research tool that is robust with resources helpful in everyone's research. Using specific examples for beginners, as well as more advanced researchers, we will explore the site and point out how to make the most of the categories and the links found within., even ones specific to Danish research. This event is sponsored by the National Danish-American Genealogical Society. For more information on our group, to see upcoming events, learn about our one-of-a-kind newsletter and more, please visit our website at: https://danishgenealogy.org/

Free Webinar: Civil Marriages in Denmark
Monday March 24, 2025 at 6:30 pm CST
Presented by The National Danish-American Genealogical Society.
Searching Danish church records for documentation of births, marriages and deaths is one of the first skills a genealogist researching their Danish ancestors learns. But what if your ancestors didn't get married in a church? Or you haven't been able to locate a church marriage record? Beginning in 1851, Denmark began allowing civil marriages, which were recorded by a local sheriff or magistrate. This program, Civil Marriages in Denmark, will teach us where to locate historical civil marriage records, what information might be included on them, why they may have been chosen over a church wedding, and more. Speaker Charlotte Champenois is highly experienced in Danish genealogical research, and an informative and engaging professional speaker.
No need to register, simply join us via Zoom at:

Free Webinar: Creating an Afterlife File for Genealogy
Monday February 24, 2025 at 6:30 pm
As genealogists, we spend countless hours researching, compiling, and organizing our research with the hope to pass it on to future generations. But in this digital age, ensuring access to this information involves much more than just handing over a family history book.
Ensure your genealogical legacy is preserved and accessible with an "afterlife file." This session is designed to help you organize and safeguard your valuable research, logins, and documents for future generations. You will learn what an afterlife file is, why it is so important, how to gather key information, organize it, and then safeguard it so others can access it when needed, as well as see practical examples for inspiration.
Our speaker is Bert Jones, long time genealogist, event planner, graphic designer, photographer and host of several podcasts. He is sure to both inform and entertain!
Join us via Zoom at: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87945684509
This event is presented by The National Danish-American Genealogical Society free of charge and is open to the public.
Our group strives to provide high quality programming to our members and members of the community, but we cannot do it without the support of dues-paying members. A yearly membership is only $20 and also includes video access to programs and our incredible quarterly newsletter filled with unique and original articles. Visit our website at https://danishgenealogy.org/ for membership information, to view an example of the newsletter and see other upcoming events.
