UMN Department of Dermatology

We are the academic office for the Department of Dermatology at the University of Minnesota.

If you are a patient or seeking an appointment, please call the clinic. At the University of Minnesota Department of Dermatology we provide outstanding patient care, cutting-edge research and train the next generation of dermatologists. Our department is home to more than 30 physicians providing the latest in patient care, nearly 20 of whom practice through University of Minnesota Physicians - the

University of Minnesota Medical School’s clinical practice made up of more than 800 University doctors. In addition to the University of Minnesota Medical Center (UMMC) and the University of Minnesota Physicians Dermatology Clinic, our faculty practice at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Hennepin County Medical Center and Park Nicollet Medical Center. As a result, our residents and fellows have a tremendous opportunity to gain clinical experience in a variety of settings. Within our Clinical Research Division our faculty conducts the latest cutting edge research designed to combat conditions like lymphoma, melanoma, psoriasis and dermatitis. This research will lead to new treatment options, better drugs and revolutionary medical technology.

The 84th annual meeting of the Society for Investigative Dermatology (SID) was held in San Diego, CA from May 7-10th. Our department was represented by a large group of faculty, residents, and medical students with 20 posters and 4 presentations:

Residents: Drs. Adarsh Ravishankar, Connor Buechler & Cameron Meyer-Mueller

Post Doc: Dr. Rania Nuwailati (Dental School)
We applaud their commitment to advancing dermatological research and patient care.

We want to give a special shout out to Dr. Cameron Meyer-Mueller, who attended the Future Leaders Retreat, that emphasized securing grants and developing a research niche to establish a sustainable career in Dermatology.

The Minnesota Dermatological Society held the 2025 Spring Meeting on the University of Minnesota Campus on May 2, 2025.

Dr. Cuong Nguyen from Northwestern University delivered the keynote address “Rash Essentials: The Role of Micronutrients and Vitamins in Oncodermatology”. Multiple residents, students, and research fellows provided posters for the poster session. Many of our PGY2 residents, Drs. Mia Jenkins, Hemin Lee, Cameron Meyer-Mueller, Briana Paiewonsky, and Morinola Shobajo, and faculty members, Drs. David Pearson, Alyce Anderson, Maria Hordinsky, Christina Boull, Brittney Schultz, and Noah Goldfarb, presented as well.

Congratulations to Dr. Teekz Yenpasook for being awarded the May 2025 Office of Graduate Medical Education (OGME) VIP Partnership Award!
Dr. Yenpasook was chosen for this award as he took time out of his busy schedule to travel to the 2025 Annual Medical Education Conference (AMEC) of the Student National Medical Association (SNMA), a medical student organization committed to supporting and increasing the number of underrepresented minority medical students. Thank you for representing the University of Minnesota in our efforts to recruit a diverse resident physician workforce!

Drs. Mia Jenkins and Teekz Yenpasook recently attended the Student National Medical Association (SNMA) Annual Medical Education Conference in St. Louis, MO.

Dr. Yenpasook said of his experience attending, "Inspired by the passion and drive of the many medical students I met at SNMA AMEC who are interested in dermatology. It was energizing to share insights about the UMN program and encourage them to explore away rotations with us. Looking forward to potentially fostering the growth of these future dermatologists!"

UMN Derm Residents gathered recently for an amazing Cosmetic Dermatology Session held by Dr. Farah in Minneapolis. We learned to use lasers for tattoo removal, sculptra and fillers to help with facial atrophy, and botulinum toxins for hyperhidrosis (too much sweating) and so much more!
