I couldn't resist. The snowball slingshot! Now an innovation for the simplest of winter fun activities - throwing a snow ball. Now who on my list should I gift it too? http://tinyurl.com/bw5cm9l

Great new study that shows yawning isn't a result of being tired, bored, or lacking oxygen -- but rather as a way to cool the brain! Now this explains all my hot-headed friends that yawn a lot. You know who you are :O http://tinyurl.com/7ckfro7

Yawning helps keep the brain cool, and the sinuses play a role in that process by acting as bellows, a new report suggests.

This is a must see video by General Mills. During a recent marketing creative session for their new FiberOne brownies, someone mention they were 'magic brownies' and the idea took off from there. This is the best Cheech and Chong material in years. The creative here is hysterical.

Millennials spend more than 50% of their foodservice dollars on takeout food. While this will be a big opportunity motivating the food service industry, there needs to more attention being paid to the types of choices these consumers are making. My guess is that we will see this trend related to Millennial obesity rates.

One of the best business lesson analogies I've heard in a very long time. Check out the blog of Dr. Jeff Spencer, team chiro for the Radio Shack Tour de France squad as he talks about the dangers of trying to catch up and the effect it has on your team around you. Truly eye-opening insight. http://championsblueprint.com/the-dangers-of-catching-up

I just came back from a conference that wasn't a complete yawner! Nice research that confirms observation -- lack of sleep can actually increase your cravings for foods that aren't good for you.

Did you know that your sleep habits can make you crave French fries?Or affect your batting average?Or hurt your grades?Apparently, sleep -- or the lack of it -- leaves its mark on us in more ways than we realize, according to scientists at an international sleep conference in Minneapolis this week

I'm glad the food pyramid is gone, but a graph is designed to convey information. It will be interesting if the move to a logo will evoke better food eating choices by Americans. I predict not. The approach by the USDA reminds me of the recycling logo... you know you should recycle but how? This would have been a perfect opportunity for the gov to open this up for public input to the approach.

ChooseMyPlate.gov is the home page for the USDA's MyPlate -- the federal government's nutrition education and guidance.
