Why????

In order to stay balanced and find your optimal physical and mental digestive health, you need to flow with the seasons.

Just as the seasons change, so should your daily routines and practices, nutrition and movement.

When the seasons change, you can either embrace the change or go against it, which may leave you feeling sick or depleted.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, you want to move into Spring with ease and flow.

You want to release the heaviness, stagnancy and built-up toxins that may accumulate during Winter.

You want to feel your strongest in your physical digestion and mental digestion.

Taking part in an Ayurvedic consultation as you step into Spring will teach you:

Foods to favor for Spring that are for your unique body and mind.

Practices around how to eat, when to eat and how much to eat.

Daily routines including a solid morning and evening routine which will support your energy during the day.

Building a sound sleep schedule which will help you find your optimal sleep at night.

Movement that works for you.

Yoga asanas if you are interested.

Breathing and meditation techniques ranging from beginner’s to advanced, based on your experience.

Energy practices which will help you release stuck energy and stuck emotions.

What makes this consultation unique, is that it is tailored to your constitution (your body and mind).
It is tailored to your needs.

It is tailored to how you are feeling in this present moment.

It is tailored to symptoms you may be currently experiencing.

It is NOT a one size fits all approach. It’s about YOU.

I work alongside you and will educate and empower you to take control of how you move forward.

You choose if you want to thrive as you move into Spring and feel strong, balanced, energetic and vibrant.

Want more info? Book a free call. Link in bio.

Consultations can be held over zoom or at my office in Minnetonka.

I look forward to working with you. 🙏

Starting to feel the stagnancy and heaviness of Winter build up in your Body and Mind?

Me Too!!

One way to release that stagnate energy is with movement.

Briskly walking in Nature is great.

And, more movement in your Yoga practice.

Think vinyasa. Sun Salutations. Flowing. Shorter holds of poses, but still able to breath steadily.

Twisting and backbends are great too, as they will help release stuck energy and stuck emotions.

Your Yoga practice should be intentional and feed what you need in the present moment.

It should leave you feeling energized, not depleted.

Always notice how you feel after you practice. Reflect. No judgment.

Get on your mat, even if it is for 10 minutes.

Your body and mind will thank you. 🙏

Let your daily routines and practices be filled with intention..✨

Notice the “why” behind what you do in your daily life..

Does it serve your highest good?

Or are you “doing” something because you feel like you “should” or because you were “told to” or because it is “trendy”..

Is it intentional and purposeful?

Reflect on how you feel during your day.
Tune into how you feel after you do your routines and practices.

Those things should bring you ease, flow, calm, steadiness and joy.

Reminder for today:
✨Let your nourishment throughout the day be intentional.
✨Let your routines be intentional..
✨Let your movement be intentional..
✨Let your thoughts be intentional..
✨Let your interactions with people be intentional..
✨Let your screen time be intentional..
✨Let your Yoga be intentional..

Today’s Yoga practice was intentional, filled with grounding postures, moving stagnate energy and breath work to calm my mind.

And my dog Coco usually joins me..❤️

Happy Friday my friends!!

You do not need to have a “diagnosis” from a medical professional to have a disordered relationship with food or an eating disorder.

You may have distorted thoughts about food, without restricting or binging/purging.

Thoughts like..
- I shouldn’t eat this..it is bad for me.
- This has too many calories.
- This has too many carbs.
- I ate this so now I need to “burn it off” by over exercising.
- I ate a lot yesterday, so today I am only going to eat salad or eat barely anything.
- Food is a calorie, carb, or protein, not nourishment for my body.
- I can only eat a certain amount of calories each day or I will gain weight.

Thoughts like these come from your EGO and from the E.D (eating disorder), which is telling you loudly that you should focus and obsess about what you are eating.

These thoughts are unhealthy and can lead to long term issues in your body and mind.

And as we know, distorted thinking about food and eating disorders in general are NOT about the food.

It goes much deeper. Usually attachment issues or neglect issues starting from a young age.
Or there may have some emotional or physical trauma.

And those can lead to...
- Using food to cope with emotions.
- Using food as a way to control your life..

In order to heal, you need to get to the root cause of the emotional pain..

It can be hard, but you can work through it.
Doing the work. Inner child, trauma healing, finding healthy ways to cope with emotions.

Ayurveda and Yoga practices and tools can help.
I have used those practices to help me heal, along with therapy. And so can you.

Will it be perfect? Probably not.
Thoughts will still creep in and your EGO and E.D. will still talk to you.

But there is hope.

Reach out for a consult or book a free call to talk about this more.

I can support you and help you get to the root cause of the issues and help you move forward on a path to heal.

I am re-posting this from a few years ago because it is still very relevant.

There are many factors that contribute to someone having an eating disorder..

But the language that we use with our children is so important in helping them develop positive body image and a healthy relationship with food.

It starts at home. And as parents, we are role models to our children.

Think before you speak.

(And yes, males can also develop eating disorders. It is not inclusive to just females.)

If you know someone who is struggling, help them get help. I recommend the Emily Program if you are in Minnesota.

(Shout out to the Emily Program for helping me become stable. And to my Yoga and Ayurveda teachers who taught me to use practices that now support me in recovery.)❤️‍🩹

Is it an Obstacle or an Opportunity for Growth?

It all depends on your mindset.

Getting uncomfortable...
Having challenges in front of you..
Encountering obstacles..
Making changes that feel hard..

You can either look at those as obstacles and retreat, or you can look at them as opportunities to learn and grow.

If you tell yourself it will be too hard...then it will be..
If you tell yourself you can’t do something....then you won’t..

But if you tell yourself that you CAN make changes that support your overall health...then you will.

If you tell yourself that you CAN do the hard things..then you will do them..

It’s all about your mindset..
Start to shift your thinking and watch what happens..✨

It has been exactly one year since I summitted Kilimanjaro....It was an amazing experience in so many ways!!! ❤️

The experiences I had on the mountain, I have taken with me this past year. We learn and grow from our experiences, whether they serve us or not..

Here are some of my takeaways this past year..

⭐️Do what you love. Don’t spend your time and energy on things that do not serve your highest good. Be mindful of who and what you give your time to.

⭐️Lean on others for support. I would have never made it to the summit without Joseph, my personal guide. Ask for help when you need it. It doesn’t mean you are weak or can’t do something. Allow yourself to be vulnerable and get the support you need.

⭐️Your mind is a muscle and it needs to be trained like any other muscle. Meditate, slow down, take pause during your day. Notice your thoughts and let them go. When your EGO talks loudly, quiet it down.

⭐️You can do anything you put your mind to. It doesn’t have to be something big like climbing a mountain. It can be small, like making simple changes during your day that support you in feeling better.

⭐️Find your tribe of people who support you and lift you up. And most importantly, find people who you can be your authentic SELF around. Don’t change who you are to conform to others. Be in your own energy.

⭐️Don’t take life too seriously. Have fun! Laugh a lot, sing, dance. (We danced a lot on the mountain!) Your life is worth living!

(Shout out to the amazing people and guides I met )

Emotions are directly related to the elements of nature.
You body and mind are made up of the elements of nature.

Ether, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth..

When you are feeling lower emotions in your mind, you have an excess of one or more of these elements.
These elements within you are imbalanced.

Fear, anxiety and worry are excess vata. Think too much air and ether in the mind.
The mind becomes scattered. Too many thoughts. Not enough earth element which helps you feel calm and grounded.

Anger, irritability, and agitation are too much pitta. Think about too much fire in your mind which causes you to be too “heated”.

Greed, attachments, depression are too much kapha. Think too much earth element weighing your mind down.

When you learn practices to balance these elements within you, your mind will be stable, grounded, calm and steady.

You are able to manage your emotions in a healthy way.

If you are experiencing these emotions often and are having challenges managing them, reach out for a consultation.

In an Ayurveda consultation, you will learn practices that are specific to your unique body and mind to help you manage these emotions.
These practices are simple and effective.

You deserve to feel well in your mind and body..🙏

One of the best gifts you can give your children when parenting them is to teach them how to manage their emotions...how to “feel”...especially when they are feeling lower emotions.

You may focus only on their physical health; trying to protect them from getting sick; teaching them about nutrition; about moving their bodies..

But Feeling lower emotions is a part of life..We all experience them...it’s how we manage them that is key. There are healthy ways to manage them and other not so healthy ways, which can cause more issues down the road...Coping mechanisms that will not serve them.

Your children may be.......
-Feeling anxiety..
-Feeling sadness..
-Feeling left out..
-Feeling less than or not good enough..
-Feeling jealous..
-Feeling disappointed or angry...

These feelings are all natural and we probably all feel them at some point. It is not “good or bad” or “wrong” to feel these emotions.

We need to experience them to grow. We need to teach our kids it is okay to experience them.

To Feel it. Name it. Acknowledge it. Sit with it (not for days), but maybe a few hours. Talk about it. Then release it..

It is a practice. And I am sure you, like me, have had times where you did not handle your emotions properly.

But we learn from it and we move on. That is where growth happens.

If we can teach our kids this, they will grow up with more skills that they can take into their adult life. And it will help cultivate more ease in their life as teenagers and adults.

We can’t take away their experiences, but we can help them find more healthy ways to manage them.

Remember, our optimal health is not just physical...

In Ayurveda, it’s about the mind and body...

You can be the healthiest eater, but if you are not managing your emotions properly, it will affect your overall digestive health.

What we “take in” on a daily basis needs to be processed in a healthy way. If we sit in lower emotions and if we “take in” too much that stimulates our mind, it affects our emotional health.

In Ayurveda, we look at the full picture. We look at your Mind and Body. They work together. They are not separate from one another.

In order to have the strongest physical and mental digestion, you need to reflect on your emotional health. You need to take a look at how you process what you take in with your eyes and ears, alongside your mouth.

What you take in either leads to more consciousness, or it becomes a toxin.

If you are in a stage where you are feeling lower emotions and are not processing them well, reach out for a consultation.

We will discuss your emotional health. We will talk about your mind.

You will get specific practices rooted in Yoga, Ayurveda and Mindfulness that will help you raise your consciousness AND will help you feel better overall. These practices are tailored to you. There is no one size fits all.
