It’s National Licensed Nursing Professionals Week!

We’re proud to recognize and thank the incredible nurses here at Ebenezer and across the world, far and wide. The dedication, compassion, and skill you bring to your work each day truly make a difference—and it will never go unnoticed. A very special thank you to our outstanding nursing team at Amira Choice Minnetonka. We’re grateful for the leadership of our Director of Health Services, Kerry Collins, along with our wonderful nurses, Amanda, Sade, and Willie Mae. Their commitment helps create the strong, caring community we’re so fortunate to be part of. We also want to recognize our residents who have served as nurses throughout their lives. Your care and compassion have touched countless lives, and your legacy continues to inspire.

National Nurses Week is celebrated each year from May 6–12, ending on the birthday of Florence Nightingale—a fitting tribute to her lasting impact on the profession.

Fun fact: Florence Nightingale was known as “The Lady with the Lamp” because of her late-night rounds caring for soldiers during the Crimean War. She also used early statistical methods to show that improved sanitation could save lives, helping shape the future of modern healthcare.

Last Saturday at Amira Choice Minnetonka, residents came together to enjoy our lively Kentucky Derby Happy Hour.

The evening featured delicious bourbon chicken sliders paired with refreshing mint juleps, creating the perfect Derby-inspired experience. To add to the excitement, residents placed friendly bets on their picks for the big race. While few could have predicted the dramatic finish—Golden Tempo charging from 19th place to take first—we did have seven residents who selected the runner-up. Congratulations to Sharon, Richard, David, Betty, Marilyn, Dolly, and Patsy! Also, a big thank you to our ladies who wore their beautiful derby hats for Saturday evening's event.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a wonderful evening filled with great food, spirited fun, and shared tradition.

Happy May and Happy May Day!

Today we celebrated by creating beautiful May Day flower bouquets! From tulips and calla lilies to colorful carnations, our residents enjoyed putting together their own spring arrangements and decorating mason jars with ribbon for the perfect finishing touch. Taking in the sights and scents of spring made for a wonderful afternoon—after all, this special season only comes once a year!

Yesterday, we enjoyed another wonderful session of Brushes & Bottles as our residents gathered for an afternoon of creativity, painting beautiful spring-themed watercolor bookmarks while sipping on a glass of wine and enjoying great company. It was the perfect way to celebrate the season, welcome spring with color and conversation, and share a little artistic fun. We can’t wait to see what Lindsay has planned for our next Brushes & Bottles gathering!

Not every day do you get to say that you attended an opera performance—especially in your own home!

Just about a month ago, Angie Carlson, a steadfast and passionate advocate for finding resources to bring high-quality music to our residents and the community, and one of the Skylark Opera Theatre board members, secured grant funding for Skylark for Seniors. They were kind enough to perform for Amira Choice Minnetonka.

Well, yesterday was the day our wonderful residents were treated to outstanding performances by Corissa Bussian (Soprano), Jennifer Eckes (Mezzo Soprano), Thore Dosdall (Tenor), Justin Spenner (Baritone), and Lara Bolton (Pianist) from the Skylark Opera Theatre.

The music performed was nothing short of amazing—featuring selections from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Giacomo Puccini, George Gershwin, and, of course, Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein II.

We cannot thank the Skylark Opera Theatre enough for their time and spectacular talents. We only hope you will be back next year for Skylark for Seniors!

From the Front Desk to our Resident Services Coordinator, these incredible individuals keep everything running smoothly and always go above and beyond for our residents and staff.
