Everyone’s out here deadlifting and rowing like they’re posing for a thumbnail…

👉 Chest cranked up
👉 Lower back jammed into extension
👉 Face says “I’m about to throw my back out but it’s aesthetic”

Relax.

You’re not supposed to be:
• Rounded like a question mark ❌

Active Mobilization:
“It hurts… but it’s not supposed to hurt.” 😅

Let me explain…

Active mobilization isn’t designed to hurt you…
but yeah—sometimes it definitely hurts.

Why? Because we’re going after the stuff that’s been stuck, tight, and guarded for years.

👉 Scar tissue
👉 Adhesions
👉 Restricted joints
👉 Muscles that forgot how to move properly

When we start breaking that up and getting things moving again, your body’s first reaction is basically:
“Hey… we don’t go there.” 🚫

So yeah…
It can feel uncomfortable.
It can feel intense.
It can even feel like, “WHY are we doing this?”

But here’s the difference 👇

❌ It’s not damaging pain
✅ It’s restorative discomfort

We’re not creating injury—
We’re undoing it.

The goal of active mobilization is simple:
✔ Restore movement
✔ Improve function
✔ Reduce long-term pain

Most people don’t have a “bad back”…
They have forward head posture and rounded shoulders from years of sitting, scrolling, and bad training.

Face pulls fix what modern life breaks.

This isn’t just a shoulder exercise—
it trains the muscles that hold your posture together:
✔ Rear delts
✔ Mid traps
✔ Rhomboids
✔ External rotators

If your neck is tight, shoulders ache, or you feel that constant pull between your shoulder blades…
you don’t need more stretching.

Start easy. Begin with a 20 minute walk—EVERY DAY. Then add 10 minutes of stretching, then 15 minutes of weight training. That’s 45 minutes a day. Now do this for 1 week, then 2, then 1 month, then 3 months and eventually you have created a habit that you won’t want to quit.

Before lifting, throwing, or even a long day at the computer, give your shoulders 60 seconds:

• 20 sec Arm Circles (small → big)
• 20 sec Band Pull-Aparts or squeeze shoulder blades together
• 20 sec Overhead Reach + Stretch

It wakes up the rotator cuff, improves mobility, and helps prevent injuries.

3 Lifts That Will DESTROY Your Lower Back If Done Wrong ⚠️

Everyone blames their back…
But most of the time it’s bad form, not the exercise.

Here are 3 lifts that wreck backs every day in the gym:

1️⃣ Deadlifts
Round your spine, jerk the bar, or load too heavy and your lower back becomes the weak link.

2️⃣ Squats
Butt wink, collapsing core, or leaning too far forward turns a leg exercise into a lumbar stress test.

3️⃣ Bent-Over Rows
If your core isn’t braced and your spine drifts into flexion, you’re basically rowing with your lower back.

💡 The Fix:
Neutral spine.
Brace your core.
Control the weight.
Check your ego.

Strong lifts build strong backs…
Bad mechanics build patients.

🌨️ Twin Cities Snowstorm Incoming – Stay Safe! ❄️

Looks like a big winter storm is heading our way this weekend. If you’re traveling, take it slow, leave extra time, and give yourself plenty of stopping distance. And when it comes time to shovel… remember: lift with your legs, take breaks, and don’t try to move the whole driveway in one go.

Every year we see a spike in back, neck, and shoulder injuries after big snowfalls. If something does go wrong, don’t tough it out.
