We provide sanctuary to the rabbits in our program as well as resources and education to rabbit owners in our community.

Today our city suffered a great tragedy. Bunny Besties wants all to know we love our community and those that make it special. An 8 and 10 year old were killed and many other children hurt. Three elderly church members in their 80’s. My heart is broken. How do we move forward? How do we heal?

"These kids were literally praying," an emotional Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said at a news conference. "It was the first week of school. They were in a church. These are kids that should be learning with their friends; they should be playing on the playground. They should be able to go to school or church in peace without the fear or risk of violence, and their parents should have the same kind of assurance."

How wonderful to be on the wish list for 2025! Did you know that there are memory care facilities that we visit every month. Thanks to a grant, Nine Mile Creek is one of our favorites!

💫 Nine Mile Creek Wishlist 2026 💫

We have had a great 2025 so far, and are already looking ahead to next year! We are always looking for extra Magic Watercolor Painting Books and Crayola coloring supplies. Our residents have been greatly enjoying therapy visits from our friends at Bunny Besties, and it is something we look forward to continuing here. We also welcome any donations of greeting cards for resident use. Our larger wish list item this year is a Warming/Proofing cabinet to be used in our Memory Care neighborhood.

Bunny Besties

Bunny Besties is a 501 3 c non-profit organization working in the Twin Cities of Minnesota, USA. Bunny Besties is an all-volunteer nonprofit that addresses the heightened stress in our community. We do it with cuddly loving bunnies and with the principles founded through studies at Mayo Clinic and our work withBoynton Health Services at the University of Minnesota. Our rescued rabbits have a unique ability to lower stress of the humans around them and bring joyfulness to those in challenging life transitions. We host bunny interactions in college and other ​educational settings, homeless shelters, libraries, senior living, and hospices ​in the greater Twin Cities area with a special focus on helping children and young adults.

We have many places that we have visited across Minneapolis and St. Paul. Our first programs were with the University of Minnesota PAWS program and People Serving People Homeless Shelter. We have continued with these organizations since September 2014. Since then we have grown leaps and bounds and continue to expand our services hoppin all over town. We specialize on providing a bunny break to those in need. Stress reduction is a real need and we try to help. Bunny Besties is cutting stresses with cuteness!

Bunny Besties became a 501 3 c non-profit organization in April of 2017. We are the recipient of the Gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award for meeting the highest standards of service within our community in 2017, 2018, and 2019. We are proud to focus on helping students pet away worry and stress, helping homeless children enjoy a novel break in their day and helping patients and families deal with illness and end of life transitions.
