Here’s the simple version:

💊 How antidepressants work
Medications primarily work chemically. They increase or balance neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine by influencing their release or reuptake. This can improve communication between brain cells and help regulate mood over time. For many people, medication is incredibly helpful — but it doesn’t directly activate underfunctioning brain circuits.

⚡ How TMS works
TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) works electrically, not chemically. It uses focused magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain that often go underactive in depression — essentially helping “wake up” mood-regulating networks.
