I am now officially QPR Gatekeeper Certified after attending su***de prevention training at ArtStart in Rhinelander, hosted in partnership with Aspirus Health.
As the founder of Silent No More Initiative, this was not optional for me. It was necessary.
Survivors of trauma face significantly higher risks of depression, self-harm, and su***de. We cannot advocate for survivors without also being equipped to recognize crisis and respond appropriately.
QPR stands for: Question. Persuade. Refer.
It is an evidence-based su***de prevention training that teaches community members how to: • Identify warning signs
• Ask directly about suicidal thoughts
• Encourage professional help
• Connect individuals to resources
This is how we build safer communities.
Not with silence.
Not with assumptions.
Not with fear of “saying the wrong thing.”
But with education. Preparedness. Action.
If you or someone you love is in crisis, the National Su***de & Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7 at 988.
And if you have the opportunity to attend a QPR or CALM training — take it.
Being a gatekeeper can save a life.
We will not be silent.
And we will not be unprepared.

After my recent heavy news post, I wanted to share something important:
How I protect my mental health.
Back in 2004, I watched a news story about a 4-year-old girl killed by stray gunfire while sleeping in her bed. It broke me. I felt helpless. Trapped in fear for our kids and our world.
So I made a choice.
I stopped watching the news. Not because I didn’t care. Because I cared too much.
Instead, I focused on what I could do.
I became an advocate. A protector. A voice.
I learned. I spoke up. I showed up.
I’ve taught alongside psychologists, formerly incarcerated people rebuilding their lives, and my own sister.
I’ve stood with parents who lost children due to daycare negligence.
I’ve trained trainers, social workers, and police.
I’ve volunteered, walked for su***de prevention, led community trainings, and joined hard conversations.
That work led me here: The Catharsis Effect. And now, Silent No More Initiative.
This is how I fight despair.
Not by doom-scrolling. By doing.
By loving my people hard. By speaking when it’s uncomfortable. By standing with those who feel invisible.
I can’t fix everything. But I can do something.
And so can you.
Will you join me in this movement?
Are you ready to get loud too?

🚨 Let’s Talk About This. 🚨
At the start of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, End Domestic Abuse Wisconsin released its annual homicide report—and the numbers are devastating.
📈 Domestic violence deaths in Wisconsin rose from 85 victims in 2023 to 99 victims in 2024.
That is a record high.
Many of these homicides were not sudden or unpredictable.
They involved documented warning signs we know are linked to lethal violence:
Stalking
Strangulation
Death threats
Prior use of a weapon
These are red flags.
These are moments where intervention, support, and accountability matter.
Behind every number is a person.
A family.
A community forever changed.
Silence does not protect people.
Awareness alone is not enough.
We have to listen, believe, support, and act—earlier and louder.
💬 Let’s talk about it.
💜 Let’s refuse to normalize these numbers.
🔥 Let’s keep saying their names, even when it’s uncomfortable.
If you or someone you love is experiencing abuse, you are not alone—and help exists.

We want to take a moment to publicly thank Megan at Sundari Consignment Boutique for an incredibly generous donation to Silent No More Initiative by The Catharsis Effect, Inc..
This donation will directly support our Board of Directors in obtaining Trauma-Informed Training—a step we believe is not optional, but essential.
If we are going to show up for survivors with integrity, care, and accountability, we must be educated, prepared, and deeply aware of how trauma impacts the body, the mind, and the healing process. This training helps ensure that every decision we make, every space we hold, and every person we serve is met with compassion rather than harm.
Community support like this doesn’t just fund programs—it shapes the foundation of how we do this work.
Thank you, Megan, for believing in this mission and helping us build something safer, stronger, and more intentional. 🖤
This is how change begins—together.

Silence as a Teacher

I’ve been very sick — sick enough that I lost my voice completely.
Not just a whisper… nothing.
Silence as a physical reality, not a practice or a choice.

I’ve tried silence before at retreats.
I always broke the rules.
There was something inside me that fought it — the urge to express, to connect, to speak life out loud.

But this time, there were no rules to rebel against.
Just silence — strange, frustrating, and honestly a little defeating.

It made me think about the people in our world who live like this every day.
How many deaf and hard-of-hearing people walk through a world that rarely meets them halfway?
How many times do we miss someone’s truth simply because we don’t know how to listen in their language?

I used to know basic sign language.
It’s been years since I’ve used it…
but something about this experience is calling me back with a deeper purpose.
If silence can fall on any of us at any moment, then learning to communicate beyond sound feels like a form of love… and respect.

And the irony is not lost on me:
I founded Silent No More Initiative — and then Mother Nature silenced me.

A wake-up call.
A reminder.
A lesson in gratitude.
A forced meditation on what it means to have a voice… and what it feels like to lose it.

We live in a world where so many are silenced — not by illness, but by systems, by trauma, by disbelief, by people who refuse to acknowledge their pain.
That’s why Silent No More exists.
Because silence can be peaceful when chosen — but it becomes painful when it’s forced.

I will come back to my voice with more reverence.
I will learn new ways to speak.
And I will keep creating spaces where silence is honored only when it is chosen — and voices are protected when they need to rise.

🎉 FIRST DONATIONS HAVE ARRIVED!!! 🎉

I am so excited to share that our very first donation to Silent No More Initiative by The Catharsis Effect, Inc. has come in — and it’s a big one!

A HUGE thank you to Lori for donating a printer, paper, and binders. 🖨️📄📚
Because of this generosity, I can now begin putting together all of the official binders for our Board of Directors!

This might seem like a small thing… but it’s not.
This is the foundation.
This is the start of something real, tangible, and powerful.
Every single item donated helps us take one more step toward supporting survivors failed by the system.

Lori — thank you from the bottom of my heart.
And to everyone watching this grow… stay tuned.
We’re just getting started. 💛🔥

Please refer to our amazon wishlist for needed items or reach out if you have something you think would help us!

🔥 REMINDER: Our Wish List is Live! 🔥
Silent No More Initiative is officially a 501(c)(3) — and we are building this from nothing but grit, truth, and the fire to protect survivors who were failed by the system.

Right now, we are gathering the basic tools we need to get this mission off the ground — things like binders, leadership books, dividers, notebooks, file organizers, and the essentials our Board of Directors needs to begin the real work.

As the founder, I have personally funded everything we’ve done so far. We are starting at zero — but we’re not staying there.
If you prefer donating items instead of money, our Amazon wish list is the perfect way to help.

✨ Every single item helps.
✨ Every donation is tax-deductible.
✨ Every contribution moves us closer to protecting survivors who deserve better.

Thank you for helping us build something that will change lives.
We rise — together.

🔥 OUR AMAZON WISH LIST IS LIVE 🔥
For those who prefer to donate items instead of money

Silent No More Initiative by The Catharsis Effect, Inc. is officially a 501(c)(3)… and we are building this from absolute zero.
No grants yet. No funding yet. No donations yet.
Every single step so far has been personally funded by me, Wendy Nycz, the founder. Because survivors deserve support—and I refused to wait for permission to begin.

Now we’re asking for a little help to get the foundation in place.

✨ We’ve created an Amazon Wish List specifically for the basic tools our Board of Directors needs to get started.
These items will allow us to:

📘 Build complete Board Binders
• Mission, Vision, Values
• Bylaws
• Onboarding & Orientation Materials
• Policies & Procedures
• Trauma-informed guides
• Meeting notes & planning sheets

📚 Provide essential leadership & education books for our board members
🗂️ Gather organizational supplies needed to begin operating
🖊️ Create systems, structure, and stability for this brand-new nonprofit

These are the unglamorous but absolutely necessary pieces that help us launch from the ground up—with integrity, organization, and transparency.

🌟 If you prefer donating physical items over money, this is a powerful way to help.
Many of the items are even on Black Friday sale right now, which makes every contribution stretch further.

Every binder, every book, every pen, every pack of paper… it all helps build something real for survivors who were failed by the system.

Thank you for helping us transform anger into action, silence into support, and pain into purpose.
