“Your injuries will require you to recover in Minot and not return to your hometown for quite some time.” That’s what Carlos was told after a work-related injury sent him into a hospital stay and a long road to recovery. While not a permanent resident, from the moment Carlos arrived at Edgewood Minot, he started making it his own.
One of the first friendships he formed was with our Maintenance team, especially Eric. The two spent the day at the North Dakota State Fair, where Eric pushed Carlos all over the fairgrounds before they ended the night at the Demolition Derby. That simple act of kindness grew into a genuine friendship. Now, Carlos can often be found cheering Eric on at his softball games.
Carlos has embraced community life in every way. He’s the first to sign up for bus trips, the first to show up for activities, and always the first to dive in with a smile. Whether it’s Tuesday Texas Hold ’Em, karaoke nights, exercise programs, or just sharing a laugh with friends, Carlos has brought joy and energy to residents and staff alike.
He loves the freedom. Our goal is it make it as pleasant as possible, giving the care and friendships he needed most. For when he needs us again in the future – he’ll be sure to think of us first. We’re a community made up for people like Carlos, ready to embrace their journey and enjoy it the best of their ability! We are Edgewood.
