Today, we remember the six million Jews and millions of others who were murdered during the Holocaust—one of history’s most devastating tragedies.

As a counselor, I reflect on the deep psychological scars left by this atrocity—scars that often reach far beyond one generation. Survivors carried immense trauma in silence, and many of their children and grandchildren have inherited the emotional echoes of that suffering. This is known as generational or intergenerational trauma—and it’s real, complex, and worthy of our continued attention.

The Holocaust was not only a crime against individuals, but against humanity itself. It reminds us of the fragility of compassion and conscience when hatred is allowed to thrive.

We have a collective responsibility—not only to remember, but to act.
To stand against antisemitism, bigotry, and dehumanization.
To educate, to listen, and to honor those who suffered by building a more just, compassionate world.

🕯️ May we remember.
🕯️ May we mourn.
🕯️ May we never forget.

Therapy and confidentiality -What you need to know.

What you share in therapy is private -but there are few legal exceptions every client should understand.

1. Safety concerns (harm to self or others)
2. Abuse or neglect of a child, elders, or vulnerable adults.
3. Court orders (yes, it can happen)
4. Insurance billing (diagnosis and additional information may be shared).

Confidentiality builds trust, and so does transparency. If you've got questions, I'm here to talk.

Let’s Talk About Privacy and Confidentiality in Therapy

One of the most common questions I hear from new clients is: "Is what I share in therapy really private?"

The short answer is: Yes, with a few important exceptions.

As a licensed mental health professional, I’m legally and ethically bound to protect your privacy. What we discuss in session stays between us—this helps therapy feel safe and supportive.

However, there are a few important limitations to confidentiality, and I believe in being upfront about them:

🔸 If there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or someone else, I may be required to take steps to ensure safety.
🔸 If there is suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or dependent adult, I’m mandated by law to report it.
🔸 Court involvement: In rare cases, a judge may order records or testimony, especially if your mental health is part of a legal case.
🔸 Insurance companies: If you're using insurance, I may be required to share a diagnosis and limited clinical information for billing and reimbursement.

Confidentiality is the cornerstone of therapy—and so is transparency. If you ever have questions or concerns about how your information is handled, I’m always here to talk about it openly.

Your trust matters deeply. 🧡

I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to the members of the Catholic Church at this time of mourning. Though I do not belong to the Catholic tradition, I recognize the unique and sacred bond that exists between Catholics around the world and the Pope — a relationship rooted in faith, history, and shared spiritual identity.

Pope Francis was a figure whose kindness, humility, and courage transcended denominational lines. His voice carried messages of peace, mercy, and justice that reached far beyond the walls of the Church, touching the hearts of people from all walks of life.

Please know that many of us, across different traditions and beliefs, stand with you in this time of grief, honoring the legacy of Pope Francis and praying for peace, strength, and comfort for the Catholic community worldwide.

With sincere sympathy and respect.

I had the pleasure of meeting dr. Vang yesterday at his beautiful chiropractic practice. I realized he treated me years ago, so it was nice seeing him again.
If you are looking for quality care, but have no insurance, or are concerned about cost, call them. They offer a 60 dollars initial appointment and a 100 dollars monthly plan. They offer additional services, including dry needling and laser therapy.
Last but not least, they have the most adorable Frenchies welcoming you at the door.

Feeling anxious about your first therapy session? That's completely normal.

Meeting a new therapist and sharing personal things can feel scary - but you won't be pushed to open up all at once.
Your first session is about connection. We'll talk about what's bringing you in, explore your story, and go over what therapy can look like. Most of all, you'll be met with understanding and care.
You don't have to have it all figured out. Just come as you are.

Starting therapy can be a big step—and it’s okay to feel nervous about it.

Many people feel anxious before their first session. Meeting a new therapist and sharing personal experiences with someone you don’t know can feel incredibly vulnerable. If that’s you, know that you’re not alone, and your feelings make sense.

As a therapist, I understand how much courage it takes to reach out and begin this process. That’s why the goal of the first session isn’t to dive into everything all at once, but to start building a real, genuine connection with you.

In our initial appointment, I’ll take time to understand what’s bringing you to therapy and what you’re struggling with right now. We’ll also talk about your history, important events or experiences that have shaped you, and how you’ve been coping. At the same time, I’ll walk you through some of the practical aspects of therapy—what sessions might look like, how we can set goals together, and what support could look like moving forward.

You don’t have to have everything figured out before you come in. You don’t have to share everything right away. This is your space, and we’ll go at your pace.

If you’re considering therapy but feeling unsure, know that it’s normal—and that you will be met with compassion, not judgment. You don’t have to do this alone.

Healing happens relationships

Therapy isn't just about talking - it is a partnership for healing and growth. A strong therapeutic relationship is built on trust, respect, boundaries, and open communication.

If something feels uncomfortable in therapy, talk about it! This space is a testing ground for healthy relationships, where you can practice self-advocacy, emotional regulation, and trust. Healing happens in relationships because much of our pain comes from them. A safe, attuned connection can help you rewire past wounds and create lasting change.
